For almost 60 years, the rope race has been an integral part of Hochfügen: "This year we are particularly pleased to be able to host the competition again on a small scale. After two years of a forced break due to Covid, an exciting rope race is with The best atmosphere guaranteed," says Helmuth Grünbacher, Managing Director of the Hochfügen ski area, looking forward to the competition with a lot of tradition - the 57th edition will be held in 2022. The children start at 9:30 a.m., the adult racing class begins at 10:30 a.m. - at this level there must be at least one lady in each rope team. At the end there is a "Flotter 3er", a fun race, with motley mixed teams.

Fun for young and old
Starting at 8:00 a.m. in the area of the valley station of the 8-seater Jet gondola, the start numbers for the various categories will be assigned. In principle, anyone can register: "The lift tickets for the racers are already included in the entry fee of EUR 35 for a rope team. Children up to the age of 14 pay no entry fee and the spectators even ride the gondola lift for free," says Marketing Manager Viktoria Gruber. The supporting program starts at 11:00 a.m. on the 8er-Alm with a varied children's program. The award ceremony takes place after the races at 1:00 p.m. on the 8er Alm sun terrace directly at the mountain station. The Race-Day is rounded off by a U1 musicians' afternoon with groups such as Die Mayrhofer, Hollawax, Gerlosbluat, Die Ausholter and ZPur.

farewell to winter
The rope race takes place on Easter Monday - April 18th - and thus the last day of this year's ski season. "Our visitors are also looking forward to another highlight: We traditionally burn the winter at the 8er Alm," explains Managing Director Grünbacher. A paper figure on a wooden frame symbolizes the cold season and bursts into flames, marking the end of the season. At around 5 p.m. the last gondola takes the participants back to the valley station, where a bus to Fügen is waiting for them.
