World Snow Day 2019 Award Winners
For the 2019 edition of World Snow Day, FIS once again carried out the World Snow Day Awards. The Awards are designed to recognize the best World Snow Day events and actions under varying circumstances.
For the 2019 edition a record 102 nominations competed in four categories. Those categories and their winners are as follows:
Best World Snow Day
Category Description: This category is designed to recognize events which have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Winner: World Snow Day Planica (SLO) by Organising Committee Planica
Prize: 10’000 CHF
Best Small World Snow Day
Category Description: World Snow Day has the privilege of not only working with large events but also small events. This category is designed to recognize events under 500 participants
Winner: World Snow Day Vatra Dornei (ROM) by Euroski
Prize: 2’000 CHF
Most Creative
Category Description: Creativity has been one of the key successes of World Snow Day events. The following category recognizes the most creative and innovative World Snow Day actions.
Winner: World Snow Day Valiug (ROM) by Scoala de Schi Buran
Prize: Camera Crew to film their next World Snow Day
Line Honors
Category Description: For the first event to register for World Snow Day 2019
Winner: Ski Klub Stara Planina (SRB)
Prize: 1’000 CHF
Judging of the Awards was carried out by the World Snow Day team. FIS Bring Children to the Snow Coordinator Andrew Cholinski commented “Many Organisers have expanded their events since the last Awards. This meant the level was once again increased and judging had to be more rigorous.”
FIS would like to congratulate and thank all those that participated. The World Snow Day Awards are a biannual event and the next edition will take place for World Snow Day 2021.
