World’s Largest Mountaintop Snow Fort Returns To Keystone For The 2022-23 Season
This week, the World’s Largest Mountaintop Snow Fort opened at Keystone Resort, and the resort will celebrate its return in style with a festive grand opening ceremony and fireworks display atop Dercum Mountain on Friday, Dec. 23. Sitting at an elevation of more than 11,600 feet, with a 10,000-square-foot footprint and reaching heights of more than 30 feet tall, the World’s Largest Mountaintop Snow Fort lives up to its name. And this year, the Snow Fort returns to the top of Dercum Mountain with brand-new features and designs, including a frozen spiral slide, an ice cave, ice carvings and fun for guests of all ages.
On Friday, Dec. 23, guests will be able to explore the Snow Fort throughout the day before taking part in the Grand Opening celebrations from 4-7 p.m., complete with a spectacular fireworks display at the top of Dercum Mountain. As a part of the festivities, guests will be treated to a special family meal deal and a live DJ experience complete with free glowsticks, hot cocoa and cookies. Attendees will also be treated to free refreshment samples throughout the evening, courtesy of PepsiCo. Guests will need an Epic Pass, lift ticket or foot passenger ticket to ride the River Run Gondola and access the Snow Fort and event festivities.
The Snow Fort is now open daily and will remain open throughout the winter season for as long as the snow lasts. The World’s Largest Mountaintop Snow Fort was constructed by Snice Carvings LLC with support from Keystone’s Snowmaking and Mountain Operations department. The fort took approximately two weeks to construct. You can learn more about the building and creation of the Snow Fort in this video.
But, that’s not all. This year, Keystone is doubling the fun with a second Snow Fort experience in the Mountain House Base Area. With this new fun zone, kids will be able to play in the snow while parents pop into the nearby Last Lift Bar for après. Look for a second Snow Fort Experience to open in the early new year!
