Women Of Winter Networking Event Held In Jindabyne

On Monday evening more than 60 women from the snow sports industry gathered in Jindabyne for an evening of networking at the Women of Winter event, held in collaboration with APSI Advancing Women in Snowsports. In attendance were snowsports instructors and trainers, coaches, athletes, retail, fitness and sport administration. 

The event promoted and supports the presence of women within the snow industry and while also raising awareness about various career paths available. It was a great opportunity for women to create new connections within the industry coming into the start of the Domestic Season. 

Rachael Oakes-Ash, known as Miss Snow it All, welcomed the guests as MC for the night. Rachael spoke to the group about her journey in the industry and how she saw an opportunity to become an international snow media journalist, along with challenges and unique insights of her career. 

Sarah Lyster also addressed the group, drawing on her 30 years of experience in roles ranging from instructing to sales and marketing management within the industry. She reflected on her extensive experience of consecutive winter seasons, noting Thredbo's significance to her identity. Sarah emphasized the value of international travel and work during the Northern Hemisphere season for personal and professional growth.

Both speakers imparted valuable lessons to the attendees. Rachael emphasized that it's never too late to enter the industry, while Sarah stressed the importance of looking up to other women as role models and prioritizing self-care during busy winter seasons.
