Windham Mountain News - Less Than 100 Days Until The Winter Season Starts
The mornings are chilly, shipments of skis and winter gear are arriving, and the mountain ops team is hard at work wrapping up improvements. Energy efficiency is a leading factor in our summer capital projects, including replacing over 2 miles of snowmaking pipe. Nearly 100 new high effeciency snow guns are being installed. Of course, the star of the show is the new high-speed six passenger lift, and towers will start going up in the coming weeks!
Music on the Mountain will be on the mountain this week! Wet weather this summer has presented a challenge for this event, but this week, it's finally going to cooperate. Take a free Skyride to The Wheelhouse Lodge, where we'll have an outdoor bar and BBQ set up and Americana-Bluegrass band, BreezyGrass, will play live on the deck from 6pm to 9pm. Bring your own chairs and blankets, but no coolers will be permitted. Thank you, Mother Nature, for giving us a Friday free of rain!
On September 1st, Executive Chef will pair courses like a Swordfish Ceviche Cucumber Roll, Black Pepper Gnocchi with Charred Hanger Steak, and Pan Roasted Nairagi with some of the finest South American wines. The evening will begin with the first course and wine selection on the summit before dinner is served on the patio. In inclement weather, the event will be held in The Club. Make your reservations today for this one of a kind dining experience!
Local bluestone carving expert, Kevin Van Hentenryck, will teach a two-day carving course on the summit of Windham Mountain September 8th & 9th. Participants will progress through each step of the carving process, from concept to finishing. No experience is necessary, safety equipment and a boxed lunch is provided each day, and dinner is included on Saturday night. A lodging discount is available at the Winwood Inn for enrollees.
