What's new in Peisey-Vallandry?

Peisey-Vallandry is a ski resort located in the Tarentaise region of Savoie, at an altitude of 1600 m and at the heart of the Paradiski ski area. It includes 5 villages on the sunny side of the Les Arcs massif, at the gateway to the Vanoise National Park. The first, Landry, lies at 780m and marks the entrance to the valley leading up to the resort (it also houses a TGV train station). Next is Peisey, an authentic stone and wood village at 1,300m. Continue on to Nancroix, at 1450m, where you’ll also find the Nordic ski area, a special feature of the resort. And finally there are the two resorts with snow fronts for alpine skiing: Vallandry and Plan-Peisey (the arrival point for the Vanoise Express).

IN THE SKI AREA, THE BRAND NEW TRANSARC
The Transarc is an emblematic lift in the resort, linking Arc 1800 to the summits. ADS has embarked on a major project to transform the Transarc. More than a rebirth, it’s a metamorphosis! Work is currently underway and will continue until December 2024. The ski area is due to open to skiers this winter. The first phase of the project was to facilitate access to the ski area. The challenge has paid off, with a new reception, advice and sales area at the foot of the pistes and a modern escalator providing easy access to the start of the Transarc.

From this winter onwards, the new- generation Transarc will offer a higher level of performance and comfort, for a resolutely modern experience: spacious cabins with 10 comfortable seats; ascent time halved (13 minutes); optimised power consumption efficiency.

At the top, there’s a brand-new contemplation area with a 360° panoramic view. Also worth discovering: a mineral gallery on the intermediate level of the ascent.

Alongside these activities, she wanted to offer visitors and locals a wellness-oriented service. Work has now begun on a brand new space, which should already be available by fall. It will feature a sauna, a hammam and a treatment room where Émilie will be offering hot stone treatments - perfect for a rejuvenating après-ski. Massage and reflexology services will also be available to relax the body.

The centre will be open all year round, with days and times adapted according to the season and how busy the resort is.

THE « LE QUARTZ » RESIDENCE

The spirit and design of the ‘Le Quartz’ residence are a nod to what was imagined some fifty years ago near Les Arcs - and thus to Charlotte Perriand, who initiated it. To pay homage to Charlotte Perriand, who worked with Le Corbusier, the building is set at right angles to the slope - to create the best possible view - and the terraces are raised and staggered - for greater privacy. The 23 flats in the residence range in size from T2 to T7, taking care to retain the modern touch that is so characteristic of the architect’s work. For après-ski, on bad weather days or for those who don’t ski, there’s a wellness area with a jacuzzi, two saunas and a multi-sensory shower. For a moment of intense relaxation. The residence also has a playroom, cellars, heated ski lockers and basement parking. Nearby, you’ll find ski lift departures, as well as shops and restaurants - including the Cristaux Blancs.

A NEW RESTAURANT: « LE BISTROT DE LA POSTE »

Le Bistrot de la Poste is a new address in Peisey-Vallandry. This bar-restaurant is located in the village of Peisey, on the Place de Roscanvel, right next to the Tourist Office. It has been set up in an emblematic and unusual location in the village: the old Post Office building, a historic building with an undeniable cachet and charm. Work has been undertaken to refurbish and adapt the interior spaces to the restaurant business - but the emblematic exterior façade has been preserved as is (listed and protected). The site will serve as a meeting point for locals and visitors alike, recreating a sense of community and village life. The chef will  offer a variety of suggestions throughout the year. Committed to cooking fresh, seasonal produce, everything is home-made, and the chef will adapt his menu according to the season. A PLANETARIUM AT PEISEY-VALLANDRY, FOR INDOOR STARGAZING

Bistou Montagne is preparing a brand new activity for this winter. Steeve, the man behind the company, is passionate about stars and other celestial objects. He already offers customers the chance to share his knowledge on guided outdoor outings. To round off this offer, he intends to set up a planetarium for indoor stargazing and education. To do this, he will convert a room in Peisey- Vallandry into a planetarium measuring around 6 metres in diameter. He will be offering 1-hour sky-watching sessions for up to twenty people.

Technically, Steeve will be able to project the celestial vault onto the ceiling and then distil his explanations, adapting them to the audience present. For children, he will overlay the drawings of the constellations to explain the origin of their names (Big Dipper, etc.). For adults, by focusing on more scientific information, different types of elements that inhabit our sky.
