What's New At Sun Valley Resort For 2020
One of the few privately-owned major ski resorts in the United States, Sun Valley continues to serve as a hidden gem in the Idaho mountains with a devout Hollywood following. During the winter months, the resort transforms into the North Pole with fun activities for the whole family (complete with magical sleigh rides and torchlight parades down Dollar Mountain!). Plus, it’s easier than ever to get to Sun Valley this year with nonstop flights from six major cities: Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Denver (DEN), Seattle (SEA), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), and Salt Lake City (SLC).
- Sun Valley Joins Epic Pass: Sun Valley has partnered with the industry-leading Epic Pass starting the 2019-20 season. This exciting alliance with the Epic Pass provides great benefits for Sun Valley and Epic Pass holders. In the 2019-20 ski season, Epic Pass holders will have direct-to-lift access to Sun Valley and receive 20% off lodging at the Sun Valley Lodge and Sun Valley Inn.
- Bald Mountain Expansion: The Bald Mountain Expansion will increase the skiable terrain by over 380 acres at Sun Valley Resort. When the project is complete, in the Fall of 2020, it will include replacing the resort’s oldest chairlift, Cold Springs (#4), with a new high-speed detachable lift, providing a seamless transition to The Roundhouse restaurant, the Roundhouse Express Gondola, and Christmas (#3) chairlift.
“Experience the Expansion” Tours: The exciting Bald Mountain Expansion area will be available for a sneak preview in the Winter 2019-20 season. Groups of advanced skiers can take informative tours given by Sun Valley’s Ski Patrol and SnowSports instructors. There is no charge to participate, but reservations are required by registering at the Sun Valley SnowSports desk at River Run Day Lodge. Collect all ten scavenger hunt cards at the Sun Valley Village locations and once the card is complete, take it to the Sun Valley Guest Center for your prize.
