Welch Village - New Quad For 25/26 Season

This summer, Welch Village will be upgrading the SkiLink Double Chairlift to a BRAND NEW QUAD CHAIRLIFT for the upcoming 25/26 season.

What’s changing?

  • New Quad Chairlift: The new chairlift will be located in a similar area to the existing Terrain Park. With the upgraded lift, beginners will have quicker access to the slopes, and more space will be available to practice and develop their skills.
  • Terrain Park Relocation: To accommodate the new lift, they will be relocating the Terrain Park to the adjacent side of the hill. This will create new opportunities for all of their freestyle skiers and snowboarders! The goal for the new Terrain Park is to have a slightly steeper pitch than our existing Terrain Park location. The new Terrain Park location will of course include a Rope Tow as well!

Welch Village is an American ski area near Red Wing, Minnesota. It was built by Leigh and Clem Nelson in 1965 and has grown considerably since then. It has a vertical elevation of approximately 360 feet (110 m). Its traditional opening time is around the third Saturday in November. It is located near the Cannon River Valley. The area offers both skiing and snowboarding and has beginner, intermediate and expert slopes. Ski instruction is available.

It hosts the Welch Village Invitational, one of the largest High School Alpine Ski Meets in the US.

Welch Village has a large chalet with two cafeteria-style restaurants. Madd Jaxx bar serves alcohol near the triple lift on the east side of the resort. Welch Village is not a resort. It has no lodging or amenities customary of a resort. It is a day visit venue.

It has nine chairlifts: four quad lifts, four double chairs and one triple chair. The area is lit for night skiing except for terrain served by the triple chair and newer runs on the back side of the ski hill.

In recent years, Welch Village has undergone a significant expansion, doubling its snow-making capacity and opening a new experts-only area served by a quad chairlift
