High-end technologies set new standards in ski construction
Description automatically generated.jpegThe standout technological features of this premium model include a ski industry first, two-part wood core construction, that ensures a consistent transparency throughout the entire length of the ski. This innovative construction is crafted entirely from environmentally friendly, FSC-certified solid poplar and beech wood, with the two components of the wood core seamlessly connected through a central sidewall. The unique 3D structure of the wooden core is precisely milled at the Straubing factory using state-of-the-art CNC technology. The advanced wood core enhances the skiing experience by delivering a smoother and more enjoyable ride, minimizing disruptive vibrations and shocks while enabling improved control on the slopes.
To craft the unique wood core construction, Völkl employed its Tailored Fiber Placement (TFP) manufacturing process, an innovation exclusively used by Völkl in the ski sector. Tailored inserts in the tip area are stitched onto the base material in such a way that the ski's handling characteristics can be controlled via the angle of the placement as well as the fiber orientation and thickness. For the V.WERKS 100, the Straubing-based ski manufacturer has evolved its TFP technology. For the first time Völkl is using two different materials, carbon and natural fibers, that are stitched three-dimensionally on top of each other. The visibly integrated inserts can not only be felt in the ski, but also have an effect on the skiing characteristics. The torsional stiffness is controlled in a targeted and precise manner via the tailor-made inserts and the dynamics are directed to the areas where they are needed. This results in enhanced precision, quicker response from the tip, and a more spirited ride. The carbon fibers ensure maximum power transmission, while the natural fibers provide a distinctive suppleness, delivering ideal damping. Skiers thus enjoy an optimized skiing experience with precise cornering, controlled build-up dynamics, and a lightweight ski construction. The fiber combination also contributes to a reduced CO2 footprint.
Additionally, the visibly integrated external Titanal reinforcements in the binding area of the V.WERKS 100 ensure improved power transmission and thus contribute to optimized overall performance.
