Vialattea To Host World Cup

Vialattea, one of Europe’s largest and most renowned Italian-French ski resorts, is delighted to announce it will be hosting the Audi FIS Ski World Cup in Sestriere from 22-23 February 2025. Welcoming the world’s best winter sports athletes, the resort will be hosting two women’s races – the Giant Slalom on 22 February, and Slalom on 23 February – taking place on the legendary Kandahar Giovanni Agnelli slope.

As one of the largest annual international Alpine Skiing competitions, the 59th edition of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup will see weekend-long festivities and events taking place, setting the scene for an exciting programme of exceptional skiing. A grandstand with over 750 seats will be set up near the finish line of the Kandahar Giovanni Agnelli, along with select hospitality tents, ensuring spectators have a front-row view of the action. Supporting the grandstand will be the ‘Snow Village’, where visitors can look forward to a wide range of entertainment, while the streets of Sestriere will be brought to life with a range of exciting activations.

The Piazza Fraiteve, Sestriere’s main square, will take centre stage for the medal ceremony on Saturday 22 February, providing a unique opportunity for ski fans to see their favourite athletes up close. The ceremony will be accompanied by a spectacular laser show and performance by internationally acclaimed electric violinist Andrea Casta, whose luminous bow will bring the square to life, blending the magic of the music and the adrenaline of the sport for a captivating evening.

Sestriere, part of the wider Vialattea ski area, has long represented a traditional leg on the ski circuit, having hosted 67 World Cup races as well as the 1997 World Ski Championships and the XX Winter Olympic Games in 2006. The Kandahar Giovanni Agnelli run has been used for many iconic sporting competitions, due to its challenging technicalities and central location, with many of the greatest skiing legends having been crowned champions on its slope. Competitors of the Giant Slalom will begin at 2,400m at an altitude of 356m, while the Slalom athletes will begin at 2,250m at an altitude of 206m, providing an exciting weekend of skiing for both competitors and spectators.

The 2024/2025 season for Vialattea will see the introduction of an expanded operating schedule, running for 129 days across five months, from Friday 06 December to Sunday 13 April. This season has also seen the introduction of the new combined Vialattea and Bardo season pass, valid on all slopes in the Vialattea ski area and neighbouring Bardonecchia.
