Val Surses Savognin Bivio - Start Of Implementation With Groundbreaking Ceremony For The Parnoztrail
The "Masterplan Bike Surses", developed by the municipality of Surses in a participatory process with the population, serves as a strategic basis for the further development of the mountain bike offering in Surses. The priority measure is the construction of a new bike trail for beginners, families and advanced mountain bikers from Parnoz to Savognin. This week the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the trail in Savognin took place.
The Parnoztrail closes a gap in the existing offering and will enable beginners and families to learn the transition from riding on forest roads to an easy trail. The trail will be designed in such a way that even experienced mountain bikers will have a lot of fun riding the Parnoztrail.
A simple flow trail is planned, starting above Parnoz and ending at Son Martegn. The Parnoztrail overcomes around 200 meters in altitude over a length of a good 1.7 kilometers. The average track width is 1.2 meters. The Parnoztrail can be reached by gondola to Tigignas and from there via an agricultural path, or under your own steam via various signposted bike routes and agricultural and forestry roads. The return to the valley station of the Savognin cable cars takes place via the existing bike route. The opening of the Parnoztrail is planned for the start of the 2025 summer season.
More trails planned
In addition to the construction of the Parnoztrail, planning for the Juliertrail is already underway. This bike and hiking route leads over the Julier Pass from Bivio to Silvaplana. For this purpose, the existing national SwitzerlandMobility route no. 1 is to be rerouted from the Septimer Pass over the Julier Pass. The project is intended to connect two tourist regions with a direct bike and hiking route. The construction of this trail is planned for 2025 and 2026. The construction of the Somtgant Trail will complete the master plan. This involves the construction of a flow trail between Somtgant and Tigignas. This trail is intended for families and riders of all skill levels as a supplement to the Parnoz Trail and will also increase the attractiveness of the summer offer.
The Bike Master Plan in the overall tourism context
The master plan serves as a sound working tool for the implementation and development of the bike offer. The focus is on a sustainable and cost-effective development approach and the optimization of the existing extensive network of paths in Surses. The bike offer serves to improve tourist utilization throughout the year, supports the establishment as a tourist destination in the autumn as well and promotes the satisfaction of locals and guests.
