USA TODAY Names Snowbasin Resort No. 1 In US & Canada
Snowbasin Resort has been voted “Best Ski Resort” in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for 2024. Snowbasin was selected No. 1 out of 20 resorts in the US and Canada, which were handpicked by a panel of experts and USA TODAY 10Best editors, based on the best snowfall, varied terrain, lift access and more, before being voted on by the public. This win directly follows the resort’s recent designation as the No. 1 resort in Outside and SKI Magazine's Reader's Resort Guide.
“Being named the No. 1 Ski Resort from a publication the caliber of USA TODAY is a massive honor and accomplishment for our resort, especially coming off our SKI Magazine win a few weeks ago,” said Davy Ratchford, General Manager of Snowbasin Resort. “Our team has been working hard to prioritize the guest experience from start to finish through the resort upgrades and improvements. The increased national recognition we’ve received feels extremely rewarding and proves that our hard work is paying off. I’m so proud of our team and grateful for the support of our guests who helped get us this recognition. We will continue to improve our guest experience as we honor this recognition. The momentum has been brilliant for everyone, and it will only get better as we look forward to the 2034 Winter Olympics.”
Snowbasin is conveniently located just 45 minutes from Salt Lake International Airport and one hour from Park City, making it one of the most accessible ski resorts in the country. It was selected as the host venue for the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics alpine events, including downhill, combined (downhill and slalom) and super-G. It is proud to be named an Olympic venue for the second time, selected as the official Alpine Skiing venue for the upcoming 2034 Salt Lake Winter Olympics. Snowbasin is the only resort in Utah where guests can truly “ski like an Olympian”, with the men’s and women’s courses on Grizzly and Wildflower Downhill still in place for visitors to experience. Snowbasin Resort is regularly top rated by Ski Magazine in the categories of Accessibility, Service, Lifts, Grooming, and On-Mountain Food. With 3,000 skiable acres, an average snowfall of over 325 inches, and 3,000 vertical feet, it offers families and outdoor enthusiasts a variety of activities while featuring championship-level skiing and riding. As one of the oldest continuously operating ski resorts in North America, Snowbasin is widely known as one of the best family resorts in the nation.
Snowbasin was recently named the Official Alpine Venue for the 2034 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, hosting for the second time since 2002. The world-famous Grizzly and Wildflower Downhill courses are available daily for visitors to experience, one of just three resorts in North America to offer top-to-bottom skiing on a trail used in competition.
Snowbasin projects to open the resort for the 2024-25 season on Friday, November 29. The resort recently announced multiple investments to amplify their experience through 2025-26, including refurbished gondola cabins, a highly anticipated upgrade to Becker Chairlift, and improved traffic flow.
