USA Nordic Men’s Ski Jumping – Hinzenbach Summer Grand Prix Recap
Men’s Ski Jumping got things started on Saturday, September 30th, as athletes took the hill for the HS90 Qualification. Urlaub was the first to qualify, going 86.5 meters for 114.3 points, finishing 16th overall. Larson was next to qualify, finishing 34th overall, after putting together an 81.0 meter jump for 105.6 points. Dean was unable to qualify, placing 53rd overall, jumping to 80.5 meters for 99.0 points. Later in the day, during the HS90 Summer Grand Prix, Larson finished 45th overall, jumping to 81.5 meters for 105.9 points, as he was unable to qualify for the final round. Urlaub jumped to 85.5 meters for 112.2 points in the first round, as he advanced to the final round of competition. In the final round, Urlaub soared to 86.5 meters (115.2 points), giving him 227.4 on the day, as he was able to earn a 27th overall finish.
The final events of the weekend came on Sunday, October 1st, with Urlaub, Larson and Dean competing in the HS90 Qualification to start off the day. Larson was the first to qualify, as he jumped to 79.5 meters for 96.3 points, and tied for 41st place. Dean followed, qualifying 44th overall, after putting together a 78.0 meter jump for 95.9 points. Urlaub then rounded things off for Men’s Ski Jumping, placing 47th overall with a jump of 78.5 meters for 93.2 points. The HS90 Summer Grand Prix then followed the Qualification, with Dean going 80.0 meters in the first round (95.0 points), as he was unable to qualify for the second round of action. Urlaub and Larson were able to move onto the second round, with Larson jumping to 86.0 meters (110.2 points) and Urlaub jumping to 84.0 meters (110.4). During the final round, Larson put together an 83.0 meter jump (107.5 points), giving him 217.7 points on the day as he earned a 27th place finish. Urlaub then went 85.0 meters for 113.3 points, as he placed 23rd overall after earning 223.7 total points on the day.
Men’s Ski Jumping will be back in action this weekend, as they will travel to Lake Placid, New York, for the Flaming Leaves Festival. The Flaming Leaves Festival will be held from October 6th-8th, with Men’s Ski Jumping competing in three Continental Cup events over the weekend.
