Tyrolean Cable Car And Ski Area Programme (TSSP) Adopted
The Tyrolean State Spatial Planning Advisory Board approved the amendment to the Tyrolean Cable Car and Ski Area Program (TSSP) by a large majority. The Tyrolean State Government has now followed the recommendation of the Spatial Planning Advisory Board and has decided to extend the TSSP until 2034.
New ski areas are already generally not permitted in Tyrol - "this ban will not be touched in the future either," explains Deputy Governor Josef Geisler. With the TSSP, expansions or mergers are subject to a strict spatial planning framework in addition to the prescribed administrative procedures.
The TSSP will therefore continue to supplement the existing material laws and approval procedures and serve as an additional planning instrument. In the interests of qualitative development, the amendment will focus on strengthening the summer offering through existing facilities.
In concrete terms, the mobility aspect will be taken into account even more than before, for example by promoting public transport connections to valley stations or better networking of hiking, mountain and cycle paths.
"With the Tyrolean cable car and ski area program, we defined the limits of growth in winter tourism in Tyrol back in 2005. We have jointly declared that we do not want or need any new developments. Every single expansion has to go through a strict approval process," explains Deputy Governor Geisler once again, pointing out that the spatial planning program is being further developed on the basis of an evaluation report with the involvement of all legal interest groups, environmental associations and other experts.
