Tyrol: "Apprentice Of The Month" From Ellmau Lift Co

The summer quarter of the apprentice awards comes to a close with the “Apprentice of the Month September 2022”: Leonard Erni from Ellmau is completing an apprenticeship as a cable car technician and electrical engineer (systems and operating technology) in the third year of his apprenticeship at Bergbahnen Ellmau-Going GmbH & Co KG Hartkaiserbahn KG in Ellmau . He was personally honored as "Apprentice of the Month September 2022" in his company at the valley station of the Hartkaiserbahn by Education and Labor Minister Beate Palfrader.

“Capable young people like Leonard Erni are the future of our country. The teaching profession with its dual training in Austria also attracts great international attention. Many countries envy us for this specialist training”, knows LRin Palfrader. “With the 'Apprentice of the Month' award, the state of Tyrol consciously wants to underline its appreciation for dedicated apprentices. In doing so, we also want to raise public awareness of the importance of apprenticeships for business and society, in order to inspire even more young people to do an apprenticeship and thus be able to counteract the shortage of skilled workers," emphasized the state councilor during the company visit.

There are currently 3,227 apprenticeship companies in Tyrol. Industry and crafts lead the field with 1,932 companies, followed by trade with 441 and tourism with 403 training companies.

Commitment to learning and volunteering

Leonard completed the second specialist class at the Hallein State Vocational School with excellent results. His company praised him especially for his collegiality and punctuality. He attended an external welding course and has already taken part in several further training retreats in the areas of trainer coaching, leadership, rhetoric and project management. He also received the recognition diploma from the Hallein State Vocational School.
Leonard is a member of the Austrian Sportkegel- und Bowlingverband and plays in the first Bundesliga. He also held the positions of spokesman for the vocational school and chairman of the vocational school student union in Salzburg: "It was always important to me to address topics such as career opportunities for apprentices and the equipment of vocational schools, which is also significantly related to learning success. Well-trained specialists should emerge from the schools,” says Erni.

His other hobbies include skiing, cross-country skiing, cycling, hiking, bowling and running.

How do you become "Apprentice of the Month"?
