Trondheim Unveils Mascot For 2025 World Ski Championships
Trondheim has passed the landmark 530 days left until the start of the World Ski Championships in Trondheim. It was marked with a world premiere of the WC mascot, which is inspired by 6,500 children's drawings and sustainability.
We have got a great mascot, which will create a lot of commitment and joy among children and young people. The colorful wings will also remind us of how important sustainability is for skiing, says WC manager Åge Skinstad.
It was Skinstad himself who presented the WC mascot during a fantastic family event in the square in Trondheim on Saturday. Several thousand children got to meet the WC mascot and dance the WC dance. The mascot represents central values for what will be the most sustainable world skiing championship of all time. It is a combination of a snowman and a bird, with colorful feathers that symbolize the UN's sustainability goals.

Climate change also creates challenges for skiing, where a lack of snow is a major problem. If Norway is to continue to be a leading skin nation, we must involve children and young people. It was therefore only natural to ask them to help us design the mascot, says Skinstad.
The mascot is inspired by 6,500 children's drawings from the ski WC's drawing competition. The winner of the mascot competition was 16-year-old Nadia from Frøya. Now the WC organizer is starting another competition: Children and young people will get to decide what the mascot should be called.
The children who were present during the launch were allowed to write their favorite name on a piece of paper. Those who were not present can submit their name proposal digitally. We are looking forward to giving the mascot a name, says marketing manager at the World Ski Championships, Haakon Jensen.
The World Ski Championships will be held in the period 26 February to 9 March 2025. It will be the biggest sporting event in Norway in 15 years. It is expected that over 300,000 spectators will make the trip to the WC. One of the strongest memories of the championship for many will be our funny and resilient mascot.
