If you go on a winter holiday with children, you can expect selected Tyrolean regions that pay special attention to the needs of children. These regions are particularly imaginative when it comes to getting started with skiing.

From children's cinema to magic carpet in the Alpbachtal

What does the ideal ski area for families look like? It should meet several conditions at the same time: The right infrastructure such as a ski children's area and ski rental for the little ones are only two of many criteria. After all, parents want their children to be in good hands. For example in the Kid's Center in Alpbach. When the children get tired and their parents want to ski a little longer, the little ones are looked after on an hourly basis in the premises of the Wiedersberghornbahn. There is a children's cloakroom, a place to sleep and even a children's cinema. In the adjacent Reith im Alpbachtal valley station in the Juppi Do children's area there is a magic carpet (ski conveyor belt), obstacles and many highlights for toddlers who want to learn to ski. “Build your own igloo” - is the motto in the Wildschönau.

Skiing fun with Murmli and Berta in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis

Murmli and Berta - that's the name of the two mascots in the large family ski area Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, a real magnet for families. The family-friendly children's ski paradises “Bertas Kinderland” in Fiss and the “Murmli Park” in Serfaus also bear the name of the two mascots. The region on the sunny plateau offers its guests age-appropriate children's ski courses and childcare, for example in the Murmli crèche, the Kinderschneealm, Berta's Kindervilla or in the Indian village in Fiss. Special highlights are the children's restaurants Murmlirest and Starrest in Serfaus.

SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental:

Children's ski care with a focus on environmental protection and innovation The villages of Ellmau, Scheffau and Söll are exemplary examples of how child care can be organized in the ski area. With the Ellmi's Kids Club, the Snow Pirates Kids Club and the childcare “Kinderkornkammer”, or “KiKo” for short, great offers await. Ever heard of the mini carvers? With these skis, even the youngest children can make their first attempts at walking in the snow - without ski boots. This innovation comes from the Scheffau ski school in one of the largest ski areas in Austria, the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental.

In the Kinderkaiserland and in the adventure park, kids learn to ski under the guidance of professional snow sports instructors. Short educational films during the ascent on the magic carpet motivate the little ones to imitate. At the end of the ski course, the young skiers receive a qualification card in credit card format. This “qualification pass” not only enables young skiers to ski on blue and red marked slopes, it also distinguishes environmentally friendly behavior, which was taught in a playful way during the ski course with the help of the mascot Snoki. With the “KiKo” in Söll, parents with babies and toddlers also get their money's worth.

The Hohe Salve panoramic mountain in the SkiWelt has many easy slopes and the Hopfgarten Kids Club with practice area, two magic carpets and supervision for children from 1 to 3 years. The Familotel Hopfgarten even offers special family apartments, a baby club and a children's pool. There is a family ski depot at the valley station in Hopfgarten. The Brixental is also popular with young and old. The reasons for this include the Alpine igloo village in Hochbrixen with the ice exhibition and the three ski movie routes.

Kitzbühel Alps: From Mini Streif to Baby Hotel

In the KitzSki ski area in Kitzbühel, skiing fun awaits brave kids. On the “Ministreif”, young talents can prove themselves at attractions such as the mousetrap, chamois, pedal organ of the Seidlalm and Hausbergkante - everything in miniature, of course.
Family-friendly accommodations such as the baby hotel babymio in Kirchdorf make the Skistar St. Johann in Tirol ski area a magnet. Parents with small children who have never been on the skis can choose between four snow sports schools that teach the little ones how to ski in a playful way.

Anyone who travels to the Pillerseetal in the Kitzbühel Alps with their family is doing everything right. The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, Buchensteinwand - Bergbahn Pillersee offers action-packed play and fun elements especially for teens. In Fieberbrunn, the “Timoks Coaster” is a spectacular Alpine Coaster that is also open in winter. In Ortisei there is a special children's hut where the children can sit, eat and play undisturbed, and on the Steinplatte Waidring the little ones are looked after in an attractive indoor and outdoor area on the mountain.

East Tyrol scores with young and old with family-friendly ski areas

No, the “Bobo Children's Club” in the small, fine East Tyrolean ski center Sillian Hochpustertal was not sponsored by a Swiss DJ. You don't need that either, because the practice area near the mountain station of the Thurntaler gondola also inspires children for skiing. The particularly low children's rates in this ski area put a smile on the face of cost-conscious parents too.

The slopes in the sun-drenched neighboring ski area of Zettersfeld near Lienz are almost all suitable for families. The kids compete on a specially created fun slope, while the young snowboarders and freestylers meet in the Sunsite Park. The old town of Lienz also offers a special flair for cozy evenings away from the slopes.

A lot of variety awaits in the Ötztal and Paznaun valleys

If you turn left at the entrance to the Ötztal, you will find a true snow paradise in Hochoetz. Here the mascot Widi greets the children and teaches them the ABC of skiing. You can also go to one of the three kids' parks run by the local ski schools. For the bigger ones there is a fun park below the Balbach chairlift. Those who are more experienced skiers can look forward to the more challenging slopes such as the long valley run to Ochsengarten, the permanent race track with timekeeping and the ski routes through fresh deep snow.

A scavenger hunt on skis turns a winter holiday in the Kühtai ski area into a great adventure for children. Various tasks and puzzles have to be solved at 12 stations over 15 kilometers. The supervisors in the Kühtai Kids Club for two- to four-year-olds take care of the needs of smaller children. The KidsPark is also waiting for all children and newcomers to the fun park. For the more experienced there is the KPark with FreeStyle-Area, SnowCross & SuperPipe.

The Silvapark Galtür in the Paznauntal has three zones that are specifically aimed at children and young people. In the Zwergerlwelt the little ones can playfully gain their first experiences, in the Adventure Land the more advanced can sprint through tunnels and over wave tracks, and in the Action Park teens and the young at heart show how much fun one can have with rails, boxes and on the racetrack.

Free ski courses in Pitztal

The infrastructure on the Hochzeiger in Pitztal is ideal for families, as the distances between the ski school, ski rental and slopes are short. Children learn their first turns in a ski course in the valley, cheaply and without a lift ticket. More experienced kids can let off steam in the snow park. Pitzi's children's paradise guarantees optimal care. In the “Hochzeiger Restaurant” there is also a children's play and lounge area with Gratsch and Pitzi.

Child care for a carefree day of skiing

If you travel to the Stubai Valley with your children, you should stop by the Schlick 2000 ski area. Because at the middle station, Big Ron's Kinderland awaits with childcare facilities, magic carpets, snow carousels and slalom courses, where mom and dad can easily drop by. The “Big Family Children's Restaurant Gamsgarten” on the Stubai Glacier is a model business with appealing children's menus, child care, child-friendly equipment and plenty of seating.

Families will also find everything they need in the Nauders-Bergkastel ski area. The biggest for the little ones there is probably the 6,500 square meter Nauderix Kinderland with playground, tubing track and Indian path as well as the Nauderix Kids Park, which is aimed at teens with all kinds of fun sports. The Interski ski school also has a large children's area and there is also an attractive children's restaurant with excellent childcare.

The Ehrwalder Almbahn with childcare and the very child-friendly Tirolerhaus restaurant also promises special fun for the family. In the Ehrwalder Wettersteinbahnen ski area, the “Confetti Alm” children's area is particularly recommended for families.
