Third Coordination Group Meeting For Courchevel-Meribel 2023 Held

The third Coordination Group meeting for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2023 in Courchevel-Meribel (FRA) was held recently via an online conference call that brought together all key stakeholders for a thorough three-hour information exchange.

For the third meeting, Director General Perrine Pelen and Deputy Director Jean-Philippe Demael alongside the French Ski Association, headed by President Michel Vion welcomed FIS representatives, led by FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis, in addition to representatives from rights holders, Infront. 

Also integrated in the meeting were representatives from the two resorts of Courchevel and Meribel, who provided key updates on the construction projects at both resorts and the planned facilities that will be used when the Courchevel and Meribel welcome the world in less than three years’ time.

The dual resort concept is a new one for the French region and presents a strong chance to highlight two of the region’s premiere resorts, while leaving a working legacy in the future to use joint infrastructure. The women’s competitions, all parallel events and medal ceremonies will be staged in Meribel, while the men’s events and opening ceremonies will be held in Courchevel.

On the call, the main focus was on the status of the facilities, general organisation, including staffing and community updates. Additionally, sport and scheduling details were discussed together with finance and marketing updates. Already much of the construction work has been completed, and those projects that are not yet finished have a timeline to be completed in 2020 and 2021.
