Teton Gravity Research Announces “Kai Jones’ Falling Into Place” Feature Length Documentary

Teton Gravity Research (TGR), renowned for its groundbreaking action sports films, announces a powerful new documentary chronicling the extraordinary journey of Kai Jones, one of the sport’s youngest stars. The film delves deep into the untold story of Kai's life-threatening and potentially career-ending injury in the backcountry of Wyoming and his courageous path to recovery and self-discovery.

Born into the legendary action sports production company Teton Gravity Research, co-founded by his father, acclaimed filmmaker Todd Jones, Kai was seemingly destined for greatness on the slopes. At just twelve years old, he turned professional and quickly captured global attention, earning four consecutive Skier of the Year nominations from the young age of fourteen. With viral videos showcasing his fearless style and incredible talent, Kai had rapidly become a celebrated figure in freeskiing, pushing the limits of what was possible for someone so young.

On March 7, 2023, at sixteen, Kai’s trajectory was shattered in a life-threatening and potentially career-ending injury while skiing in Wyoming’s remote backcountry. What followed was an arduous journey involving multiple surgeries, grueling rehabilitation, and the formidable task of relearning to walk. Yet, perhaps Kai's greatest challenge lay in confronting the question of whether he could, or even wanted to, return to the sport that had shaped his life.

This film offers an intimate and unfiltered perspective following Kai’s journey. Capturing raw moments of physical and mental struggle, the film goes beyond the traditional sports documentary to explore resilience, determination, and a young man's quest to rediscover himself. Witness Kai’s highs and lows, from his efforts to regain strength, to the deep reflections on his future in skiing.

“This journey has been the biggest test of my life,” Kai said . “Getting back on my feet after the accident took everything I had, physically and mentally. This film captures all of it—the highs, the lows, and the doubts. I hope it shows people that no matter how tough things get, there’s always a way forward.”

This documentary provides a window into Kai’s journey in life as he navigates the complexities of physical recovery and self-doubt on his journey to reclaim his place in the freeskiing world.

The film is slated for digital release on December 3rd, 2024 on Teton Gravity Research TV, Red Bull TV, Apple TV, Amazon, YouTube Movies, and Google TV.
