TechnoAlpin: Sestriere Focuses On The Most Modern Snowmaking Technologies
The decision to continuously invest in the latest technology for snowmaking systems is of vital importance for a number of reasons. Modern snowmaking technologies don't just offer significant improvements in terms of efficiency and snow quality, but they also make a crucial contribution to reducing energy consumption, which is both ecologically and economically beneficial.
The Sestriere ski area in Italy is a recent example of this type of investing. This summer, Sestriere plans to replace more than 100 Borax snow lances from previous generations with ultra-modern snow guns. 70 TL8 and 13 TL4s are currently being installed. TL series lances are characterized by improved snow production and significantly increased energy efficiency - these new models alone will improve the Sestriere system’s air consumption by a ratio of 1 to 8. But operators don’t just reduce operating costs by using this advanced technology - they can also ensure more uniform and high-quality snow coverage, which increases guest satisfaction as a result and makes the ski area more attractive overall.
In addition to the TL models, Sestriere will also replace some of the previous lances with TT10 (35 units) and TR10 (8 units) fan guns on lift. These machines enable higher performance as well as more rapid and efficient snow production, which is a huge benefit particularly during periods of increasingly brief snow windows.
Modernizing snow installations in Sestriere clearly shows how important it is to consistently maintain the latest state-of-the-art technology. Investments like this do not just contribute to the long-term security of the ski area, but also encourage sustainable use of resources.
