TechnoAlpin Is Busy Commissioning Snowmaking Systems For The Southern Winter!
In South America, the snowmaking season has started successfully in recent weeks. The TechnoAlpin team and its local partners have been very active: they have implemented several new snowmaking projects (including a major system expansion in Catedral in Argentina) and supported the snowmaking teams in the ski resorts in commissioning their systems.
In order to facilitate the commissioning of the existing systems and to be able to start all new snow guns and pumping stations on time, our team carried out an extensive preventive maintenance program in several ski resorts in Argentina and Chile based on the new BEAT service concept. Despite some adverse weather conditions in the region with early and quite heavy natural snowfalls, the ski resorts' snowmaking teams and TechnoAlpin technicians were able to carry out all commissionings.
In Catedral (Argentina), at the suggestion of the owner and operator of the ski resort, the Trappa family, and Patrick Peintner, the head of the snowmaking system, TechnoAlpin completed a major snowmaking project this year, part of a comprehensive master plan launched in 2020 that includes new lifts and snow production facilities. The aim was to further improve snow reliability, especially in the lower part of the slopes, where temperature conditions can be borderline.
To achieve this ambitious goal, Catedral opted for the best fan gun technology available today, the tower-mounted TT10. The TT10 is indeed a masterpiece - especially when it comes to snowmaking at marginal temperatures - and surpasses all other snow guns on the market. A total of 40 TT10 fan guns were installed along 4 km of water pipes along the slopes at Catedral. The project also included a new storage pond with a capacity of 110,000 m3 and a new pumping station to increase performance.
But not only in Catedral, other ski resorts have also put new systems into operation for the South American winter season. For example, at Cerro Castor, where 12 new TT10s now ensure perfect snowmaking on the new Gran Castor slope, or at the Pedras Blancas ski center, where 3 new TR9s were installed to expand the snowmaking system to an altitude of 1800 m.
TechnoAlpin is proud to contribute to the success of South American ski resorts and help them offer their guests the best skiing conditions.
