Swiss Cable Cars & Garaventa Launching A Ski Pass For Novices
Seilbahnen Schweiz, together with Garaventa AG, is launching an annual ticket for apprentices, the "Garaventa Youth Card". This means that trainees who complete their training as cable car mechatronics technicians or cable car operators at Cable Cars Switzerland can use all cable cars in Switzerland free of charge.
Free travel for the next generation of the cable car industry, because thanks to the cooperation between Garaventa and Seilbahnen Schweiz, cable car mechatronics technicians and cable car operators in training will for the first time receive a free annual pass for all Swiss cable cars for the 22/23 winter season.
Attractive working conditions
The promotion of basic vocational training and the strengthening of cable car professions are equally important to Seilbahnen Schweiz and Garaventa. Berno Stoffel, Director of Seilbahnen Schweiz (SBS), is delighted: “Anyone who completes the apprenticeship as a ropeway operator or mechatronics technician at the training center in Meiringen works where others vacation. Hardly any other job offers such a breathtaking view as a job on a cable car.»
“Most of the apprentices have a great affinity for nature and mountains. With the new annual ticket for the Swiss cable cars, we want to support this passion and make training in the cable car industry even more attractive," adds Arno Inauen, CEO of Garaventa.
Counteract the shortage of skilled workers
Berno Stoffel and Arno Inauen agree: «It is very important to us to intensively support the next generation. The free annual pass opens doors to other regions for learners. The industry needs specialized experts and offers young people perspectives with rapidly developing topics such as alternative drives, smart technologies or urban railways.»
The "Garaventa Youth Card" is valid for the two-year training course to become a cable car operator with federal certification at the Meiringen training center. Professional certificate (EBA) and for the four-year ropeway mechatronics technician with federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ).
