Sunday River Resort Opens For Skiing And Snowboarding
After five days of solid snowmaking, Sunday River Resort was able to open for the 2017-18 season and will remain open seven days a week from here on out.
Opening day terrain included T2 and Upper Sunday Punch trails on Locke Mountain, serviced by Sunday River's Locke Mountain Triple chairlift.
Thanks to additional snowmaking throughout the morning, Patrol was able to add two more trails before noon for four trails total and top-to-bottom skiing and snowboarding.
Lift tickets are $39 for adults and $29 for teens, juniors, and seniors. All active and retired members of the military, as well as immediate family members were invited to ski free in honor of Veterans Day today.
All open terrain is recommended for advanced skiers and snowboards only and snowguns will continue to run with active snowmaking as long as temperatures allow. As such, visibility may be limited and manmade and natural obstacles do exist.
Sunday River will update its online Mountain Report again tomorrow morning by 8 a.m. with all open terrain and indicate any grooming and/or new snowmaking.
Guest services are currently offered out of Barker Lodge, including lift tickets and food and drink. Rental equipment and season pass purchases and pick-up are available out of the South Ridge Lodge.
As is typical in the early season, Sunday River will continue to make snow and open new terrain as weather conditions allow. Lift ticket prices will increase as more terrain opens; guests should purchase lift tickets in advance online to save or buy a Kickstarter pass valid now through December 24, 2017, for only $159.
