Summit At Snoqualmie / Alpental: 13 Lift Towers In Place For New International Chair
It’s not every day you see lift towers flying through the air! This past week both the Summit and Doppelmayr crew have been working tirelessly to get all 13 lift towers in place for the new International Chair.
The long-awaited International Chair at Alpental will be a fixed-grip triple dropping skiers and riders in the best spot for accessing Lower International, Snake Dance, Felson & Back Bowls. Providing a whole new way to access some of the most popular terrain at Alpental.
Because of the location, each piece must be flown in via helicopter and assembled on the spot. These towers can be installed in just a few minutes, which is pretty nuts! It’s also worth mentioning that thanks to Alpental’s gnarly terrain, there are multiple towers that are so tall that they need to be installed in multiple pieces. One tower that hugs the Snake Dance/Felson cliff band is over 80 feet tall!
Getting everything lined up for this project is no easy feat, so big kudos to our patrollers, lift ops team, and all of the additional crew members!
This is a huge milestone to check off, it’s really starting to look like a chairlift now.
