Styria - Steiermark. Positive First Half Of Season

The current projection of the Styrian state statistics is very positive. The winter half-season from November 2024 to January 2025 shows a clear lead over the second half of the winter until the end of April with 914,000 guests (+50,200 arrivals, +5.8%) and 2,869,200 overnight stays (+134,300 overnight stays, +4.9%). The domestic versus international ratio is almost balanced, with a share of 53.5% for the domestic market and almost 47% for the international markets.

"The current balance at the halfway point of winter is a great joy. Styria is on course for a record with increases in the domestic market as well as on the international side. This makes it clear that the desire for holidays is still unbroken. Now we hope for a strong finale until after Easter, then a new record is certain," said Mario Kunasek, the governor responsible for tourism.

"The positive development in the winter half-term resulted in around 2.9 million overnight stays. The increases came equally from Austria as from our most important markets of Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia. The most important holiday month of February is also said to have gone extremely well. This makes the 6 million mark in overnight stays within reach," says Michael Feiertag, Managing Director of Steirische Tourismus und Standortmarketing GmbH.

Winter: Nov 24 – Jan 25 compared to Nov 23 – Jan 24

A brilliant start with three world stars at the Schladming-Dachstein opening, a busy Advent, the ideally timed Christmas holidays with a few days off (from work) for a long vacation, good weather and events in January such as the Ski Cross World Cup or 2 x Night Race were the ingredients for this excellent winter half-time result for 2024/25 with around 6% more than 900,000 guest arrivals and 5% more than around 2.9 million overnight stays. January saw more than 350,000 guest arrivals (+20,000 arrivals, +5.8%) and 1.28 million overnight stays (+31,600 overnight stays, +2.5%).
