Sturm Graz At Training Camp In Schladming-Dachstein

The reigning Austrian football champions and cup winners SK Sturm Graz are currently completing an intensive training camp in the Schladming-Dachstein region.

  • Intensive season preparation with training sessions in Irdning in the Ennstal
  • Tourism association invited people yesterday to cool excursions with zipline and "pit-pat"
  • Test matches on Saturday against the Danish first division club FC Midtjylland

Under the leadership of head coach Christian Ilzer, the players around captain Stefan Hierländer and defense chief Gregory Wüthrich are preparing for the coming season. The team has moved into their quarters for a week at the Schlosshotel Pichlarn in Aigen, and training will take place in Irdning in the Ennstal.

Yesterday, the Schladming-Dachstein Tourist Board invited the team on two special trips: Lots of action at high altitudes was on the agenda for part of the team on the zipline in Gröbming, while the rest of the group had great fun playing “Pit-Pat”, a combination of mini golf and billiards, at the Puttererseehof in Aigen.

“We are delighted to welcome the double winners Sturm Graz here in our region. The team achieved something truly extraordinary and historic last season,” said Mathias Schattleitner, Managing Director of the Schladming-Dachstein Tourist Board. “As Styrians in particular, we are very proud that the reigning champions come from Styria and we wish the team all the best and much success for the coming season.”

Finally the Champions League again

The sports facility in Irdning offers ideal conditions for the training camp, which serves as optimal preparation for the new 2024/25 football season. In addition, the cup competition starts on July 27th and the Bundesliga season at the beginning of August, in which the team around Danish record signing Mika Biereth wants to attack again. In addition, the Graz team is once again represented in the premier class of European football - the Champions League - for the first time in 23 years.

A special highlight awaits fans next Saturday: In the ATV Riesneralm Arena in Irdning, Sturm Graz will face Danish first division team FC Midtjylland in an international friendly match. The match kicks off at 11:30 a.m.
