The mountain and trail running world championships in Tyrol are fast approaching. At the beginning of June 2023, Innsbruck-Stubai will become the center of trail running and mountain running. "Preparations for the World Cup have been in full swing for months and with the turn of the year we got the starting signal for a very intensive but also exciting phase in the run-up to this major event," emphasizes OC boss Alexander Pittl .

WMTRC 2023 website relaunch

The goals for the World Cup in Tyrol are high. Accordingly, the official website has been revised and now presents itself in a new design. Both athletes and sports enthusiasts will find all the important information about the sporting event of the year 2023 here. The website provides an insight into the preliminary program of the World Championships, presents the partner regions of Innsbruck and Stubai and shows the four provisionally planned routes of the World Championship competitions. Maps, route profiles and important information about the length, the difference in altitude and the condition of the trails are available.

"Medals are fought for on varied, demanding and World Cup-worthy routes in the Kalkkögeln, at the foot of the Elfer summit with a view of the Stubai Glacier and on the Nordkette. The symbiosis of urban charm and nature experience in combination with a sustainable and up-and-coming sport increases the anticipation of the World Cup,” said Pittl.

IATF as pre-program for the world championship

The WMTRC 2023 Innsbruck-Stubai is the highlight and conclusion of a ten-day mountain and sports festival, which will begin on June 1, 2023 with the 8th Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival (IATF). Within just a few years, the IATF has developed into the largest trail running event in Austria and the third largest in the DACH region. 5,000 athletes and just as many accompanying persons from over 60 nations are expected in the run-up to the World Cup and, depending on the route, can already run on the World Cup trails. With an attractive, top-class supporting program and a great expo, sports enthusiasts are also encouraged to stay and watch the World Cup.
