Stereo Skis Announces Partnership With Kjetil Andre Aamodt And Launch Of FIS Collection
Stereo Skis today announced its partnership with ski racing legend, Kjetil André Aamodt. Aamodt joins the brand as an ambassador and collaborator in developing the brand’s new FIS-certified ski collection.
Kjetil André Aamodt is the world’s most decorated alpine skier with 20 championship medals, including 12 World Championship and 8 Olympic medals (4 Olympic gold, 5 World Championship gold). Aamodt is one of only five alpine skiers in the world to win the World Cup in all five disciplines and is the current record holder for top-ten placements in the World Cup, with 233.
Aamodt, World Cup Champion, and Olympic Champion, joins Stereo Skis as a developer and ski tester focused on building skis with the crucial characteristics for success at the highest performance level. With his expertise, Kjetil André Aamodt has strong opinions about the perfect World Cup ski and has worked extensively on the ski’s characteristics, especially concerning ice on watered-down courses; a condition that requires skis to be torsionally stiff, possess dampening properties, and have a setup that provides sharp responsiveness.
Norwegian Stereo Skis is known for freeride and backcountry skis that combine the highest quality materials and manufacturing techniques to deliver the best ski performance. With the launch of the new FIS-certified collection, Stereo Skis sets its eyes on the competitive race market with goals of reaching the 2026 Winter Olympics and bringing back Olympic glory to Norwegian ski manufacturing.
“Olympic gold has eluded Norwegian ski brands since 1954. Not since Stein Erickson have we seen a company poised to challenge the market leaders. Today, with our partnership with Kjetil, with his unique knowledge and experience from 20 years of racing, it is possible for Norway to compete with European ski manufacturers on the highest and most prestigious level,” said Stereo Skis founder Jens-Martin Johnsrud. Adding, “he’s a winner, he never gives up. He’s exactly what we needed.”
“The thought of achieving gold for Norway in 2026 with Stereo Skis gives me goosebumps. I couldn’t be more excited to contribute to this goal, to carry forward the traditions and history of Norwegian skiing, and to partner with my good friend, Jens-Martin,” said Kjetil André Aamodt.
Stereo Ski’s 2023/24 FIS-certified race collection launch will be accompanied by the launch of its Race-Carve ski collection, which offer the same high-quality performance but are more user-friendly. The FIS and Race-Carve collections launched on September 21, 2023 and join the 2023/24 Stereo collection of piste, freeride, and touring skis.
