St. Moritz 2024/25 Winter Season Is Packed With News

With exciting new openings, innovative offers and beloved classics, St. Moritz has always created the perfect balance between tradition and modernity. Attractive new and time-honoured winter experiences are just waiting to be discovered this winter season.

The St. Moritz 2024/25 winter season is packed with news.  World-class events meet art, culture, nature and sport in St. Moritz. In addition, new restaurant concepts and pop-ups are set to stir up the local restaurant scene in the 2024/25 winter season.

For sport fans and professional sportspeople

• Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz: From 24 – 26 January 2025, the world’s only “High-Goal” polo tournament on snow takes place for the 40th time now on the frozen Lake St. Moritz and attracts people from all over the world to the Engadin region. Access to the tournament has been free of charge since its inception.

• White Turf: Once again, all eyes of the international sports world are on the frozen Lake St. Moritz from 2 – 16 February 2025 for the White Turf horse racing event.

• Winter Pentathlon: In this novel winter sporting event, amateur athletes will test their endurance in five disciplines – ski touring, giant slalom, speed skating, cross-country skiing and monobob or curling on 8 February 2025.

• Freestyle World Championships 2025 St. Moritz: In March 2025, the Engadin becomes the centre of international freestyle sports when the Ski Freestyle and Snowboard World Championships take place on the Corvatsch and the Corviglia as well as in St. Moritz from 17 to 30 March 2025.

For art and design enthusiasts

• “Jean-Michel Basquiat. Engadin”: From 14 December to 29 March 2025, the first solo exhibition of the artist, which focuses on paintings created by Basquiat on his visits to Switzerland and which were an inspiration for him, is on display at the Hauser & Wirth Gallery.

• New galleries: Besides many renowned art galleries that have already established branches in St. Moritz, the gallery scene now has new blood with Tony Kelly and Thaddäus Ropac this winter.

• NOMAD: From 20 – 23 February 2025, the travelling art fair that presents leading international galleries with exhibitions at architecturally unusual places and promotes a unique dialogue between art and design, makes a stop in the former premises of Klinik Gut in St. Moritz.

• Pietro Terzini x Grace La Margna: The boutique hotel presents an exclusive collaboration with Pietro Terzini, a leading Italian contemporary artist. The historical façade become the setting for an impressive dialogue between alpine landscape and modern art during the winter season with Terzini’s light art installation “Feelin' Frosty But Still Hot”.

For St. Moritz connoisseurs

• Talvo: On 4 December 2024, a new chapter officially starts in the long-established business in Champfèr-St. Moritz. With the transfer of the restaurant from award-winning chef Martin Dalsass to the new tenants Kevin Fernandez, Dalsass’ long-time sous chef, and Lisa Carlevero, a generation change that combines tradition and fresh ideas is brought to fruition.

• beefbar: A branch of the famous international restaurant chain beefbar is in the Grace La Margna Hotel that opened last winter from mid-December.

• Crazy Pizza: A Crazy Pizza pop-up restaurant this winter season supplements the offer in the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz.

• Billionaire: A new era of luxury and entertainment started at the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz on 6 December 2024 when the hotel becomes the stage for the Billionaire St. Moritz dinner show.

• Samigo Fuel 7500: On 20 December 2024, a creative hotspot that combines lunch, dinner, shopping and nightlife is staged directly at the St. Moritz train station. From the outside, Samigo Fuel reminds one of a retro-look fuel station, while on the inside a mini market, Samici Pizza and the nostalgic bar from the Savoy Hotel Zurich, which transforms into a dance floor at night, await.

• ALTO: In this pop-up restaurant, from 20 December 2024, chefs Luc Liebster, former sous chef at Pujol in Mexico City and Gino Miodragovic, private chef and most recently head chef at the Igniv in St. Moritz, create a mix of local ingredients with the aromas of Mexico and Asia with their surprise menus.

• “SALA R.C.”: Just in time for the 2024/2025 winter season, the Belmont St. Moritz is integrating R.C. Concepts’ new culinary project in its premises. From mid-December 2024 until the end of March 2025, the pop-up provides an opportunity to enjoy creative dishes and snacks in a cosy ambience four days a week.

• Stüvetta Moritz: In its new restaurant, the Hotel Grace La Margna puts the spotlight on Swiss tradition with a very slight contemporary touch. Guests can look forward to a journey through re-interpreted Swiss classics in the restaurant designed by famous interior designer Fabian Freytag.

• Hotel Laudinella: This four-star establishment has undergone an extensive renovation phase since spring 2024. Besides three completely redesigned restaurants, two bars and a deli, there are 42 suites, nine penthouses and a spa area on the roof. Guests can enjoy a foretaste of the new concept in the Restaurant Stüva during the winter months.

• St. Moritz Gourmet Festival Reloaded: Under the motto “New Culinary Lifestyle” the festival, which runs from 27 January to 1 February 2025, brings together top chefs and connoisseurs from all over the world in various locations in St. Moritz.

• “Amusements on the Lake”: The frozen Lake St. Moritz transforms into a winter playground for big and small, complete with a pop-up shop, ice skate hire and a musical programme, from mid-January to 23 February 2025. Food stands from the St. Moritz Crystal Hotel, alpine specialities and a merchandise stand from the St. Moritz Guest Relations team round off the offer. If weather conditions allow, a prepared 400-metre-long track made of natural ice awaits on the frozen Lej da Staz from 17 December 2024 to 15 January 2025. Ice skate hire is also available.

• Monocle pop-up & shop: The Monocle shop returns to St. Moritz with a seasonal location in Hotel Steffani. From 5 December 2024 until 31 March 2025, visitors can enjoy take-away coffee, Monocle accessories and prints as well as a selection of local products.

For vintage and classic car fans

• The I.C.E. – Concours of Elegance: On the weekend of 21/22 February 2025, the lake turns into a stage for classic cars with this outdoor spectacle.
