Spieljochbahn In Fugen Sets Standards For Sustainable Mountain Enjoyment
The Spieljochbahn in Fügen sets standards for sustainable mountain enjoyment: thanks to a variety of initiatives, TÜV Austria recently awarded the company the ISO 14001 certificate “after an intensive path of innovative ideas and efforts”.
Sustainable work and modern architecture in harmony with nature – this was already taken into account when the Spieljochbahn was built. As early as 2017, the Schultz Group, as the new owner, focused on environmentally conscious operations: “At Spieljoch, our photovoltaic systems produce more than 100,000 kilowatt hours, and thanks to our solar system at the mountain station and the heat recovery system, we save even more energy,” says Maximilian Schultz . The Spieljochbahn is also a pioneer when it comes to storage ponds, snow management and slope construction: the ecologically valuable turf is carefully removed and reinserted in the correct position. In addition, CO2 is saved in the valley station thanks to district heating and e-charging stations and a cooperation with the ÖBB also contribute to the sustainability account.
Environmental management certification ISO 14001
This focus on environmentally friendly initiatives has now been certified by TÜV Austria: The Spieljochbahn has recently received the ISO 14001 certificate for environmentally conscious and sustainable business and a well-documented environmental management system that is implemented in the organization. “The Spieljochbahn is now at the forefront of tourist businesses, which promote environmental protection and regional sustainability due to ISO 14001. Proof that economic and ecological sustainability can be combined,” explained lead auditor Mag. Eva Stockley at the certificate handover at the Spieljochbahn mountain station.
Families in the fast lane
The family ski area at the beginning of the Zillertal also offers slopes for all skill levels, the longest toboggan run in the Zillertal and a winter hiking trail to the summit of the Spieljoch. Culinary well-being is ensured by huts and the Mountain Loft with an inviting sun lounge, pizza and pasta as well as award-winning dishes in the gourmet restaurant.
Tip: Children up to 6 years of age travel free, up to 2009 for just 33 euros and the youth price applies up to the age of 18 - so families are in the fast lane all winter long.
