Sollereck & Nebelhorn - Construction Work Completed
The engineering office Klenkhart und Partner invited mountain railway operators and the press to inspect the new Söllereck and Nebelhorn railways, in order to commemorate a project whose construction work was enormous.
Due to the pandemic, the planned measures were brought forward and could be handed over to the determination earlier than originally planned.
The OK-Bergbahnen invested around 150 million euros in modernizing and modifying the railways and bringing them up to date in an environmentally friendly manner - everything to transport the 16 million passengers according to the latest innovations and findings.
Despite the Corona crisis, those responsible from all parties were positive about the future and had the new Söllereckbahn built on its identical route in 2020. In addition, the cable car was extended to the parking lot on the B19 with a middle station. The drive station was rebuilt in place of the old mountain station. The garage, main pumping station, employee areas and toilets were built at the middle station. The middle station now also serves as an access point for repeat riders. The valley station with cash desk, intermediate storage and ski shop can be reached directly from the spacious parking lot on the B19, and a pedestrian bridge has made crossing the street safe. The mountain station has been widened significantly, toilets have been built, the transverse slope has been leveled and the most critical point of the family run has been defused.
The Nebelhornbahn, which has been in operation since 1930, with sometimes 2-3 hour waiting times in the shuttle service, has been replaced by a new 10-seater gondola, and the output has been increased from 600 p / h to 1,200 p / h. In the extensive EIA procedure, Klenkhart und Partner succeeded in initiating a positive plan approval despite the approx. 100 objections from the population and neighbors and in implementing the main construction measures in 2020. (The route in the settlement area of the valley station corresponds roughly to an urban cable car.) The Nebelhornbahn was completed on schedule for Easter 2021.
Here too, Klenkhart and Partner were responsible for project control during planning and execution. They also took care of the preparation of the submission documents for the building and operating permit (EIA procedure), technical advice in the context of the tender and the award of contracts for ropeway technology and master builders / earthworks. Skier flow analyzes, detailed planning and slope construction measures, as well as the technical and commercial supervision were carried out properly and professionally.
The entire work was of a tremendous nature to plan, design and build the new foundations, collector corridors, garages, etc. Klenkhart und Partner succeeded in doing this in an impressive manner. The renaturation work has been completed and only insiders know where and how, with what postponements the measures were carried out.
