Snowfest Presents The Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour 2024

The organizers of Snowfest are excited to present the second edition of the Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour, which will be stopping in cities across Europe this fall! One setup, two sports, three cities in three countries over three months – featuring world-class street snowboarding and street skiing. Rock A Rail is known for innovative and progressive setups that challenge riders to pull off creative tricks and is the world’s only rail tour for snowboarders & freeskiers.

The success story of Rock A Rail began in 2011 in the Netherlands. Over the years, what started as a local rail jam has grown into one of the most prestigious in-city snowboard contests, attracting thousands of fans. Since 2022, not only hast Rock A Rail taken place as part of Snowfest, but that year also marked the Snowfest debut of the freeskiers. However, this fall they will officially compete under the Rock A Rail banner for the first time, as starting in 2024, Rock A Rail will represent both snowboarding and skiing.

THE ROCK A RAIL TOUR – The tour kicks off in Thun (SUI) at Freestyle Roots Festival. From October 11 – 13, 2024, riders will have the opportunity to secure strong starting positions for the tour and overall victory. Among those competing in Switzerland are the 2023 Rock A Rail Tour Champions in snowboarding, Paula Benito (ESP) and Leon Gütl (GER). Both aim to defend their tour titles. Freestyle Roots combines sports and culture, with mountain bike and breakdance also in the spotlight alongside snowboarding and skiing. The audience can look forward to a vibrant supporting program.

From November 22 – 24, the Rock A Rail crew will once again set up camp in the heart of Innsbruck (AUT), right in front of the Tiroler Landestheater with the impressive Nordkette mountain range as the backdrop. Snowfest Innsbruck invites everyone to its third edition celebrating the colorful diversity of winter sports. The event promises the second stop of the 2024 Rock A Rail Tour, as well as the Snowfest Village, where various sports clubs and associations will showcase their sports. Discover and try out new winter sports, learn about new initiatives – all this and much more awaits people at Snowfest Innsbruck. Admission is free.

Two weeks later, from December 4 – 8, the grand showdown of the 2024 Rock A Rail Tour will take place in The Hague, at the final stop. After years at the Grote Markt, the event will be held for the first time this fall at Koekamp, Laan van Reagan en Gorbatsjov, directly in front of the Central Station, once again with free admission. The crème de la crème of street snowboarders and street skiers will gather, as not only the day’s victory is at stake in the birthplace of Rock A Rail, but also the prestigious tour title. Last year’s champion, Mees Ostdijk, will do everything he can to be on top of the podium once again.

THE SETUP – Mastermind Stefan Plattner is behind the 43-meter-long, 17-meter-wide, and 7,5-meter-high structure with a unique setup. It’s the centerpiece of the tour! After months of meticulous preparation, Gerben Verweij from GV-Constructions and Stefan came up with the “Rock A Rail Cage”, featuring unique features with numerous riding options that have never been see before and will challenge riders in creative ways. A world-class “playground” for freestyle athletes from around the globe. The best jibbers on one and two boards will mix with Olympic champions and world champions, leaving the audience in awe.
