Smith Releases Heritage Video - Path of Innovation
Smith has released a heritage video titled "Path of Innovation" covering 53 years of innovation. It's great to see a company which revolutionised the sport celebrating its history.
Company founder Dr Bob Smith was the creative genius behind one of the sport's significant inventions - the fog-free goggle. Smith, was a native of San Francisco and one-time orthodontist. His invention was born in 1960 on his kitchen table where he and his wife Jean used dental tools, foam and glue to develop their early models.
Today Smiths' double glazed "Thermopane" concept using two lenses and a sealed space between them to solve the problem of warmth from the face fogging the goggles is used by every goggle maker.
They say:
"Since 1965 our purpose hasn’t changed: amplify the thrill of human experience. Everything we do, every pillar in our character delivers on this simple idea. We exist to fuel fun beyond walls through advanced products that are optimized, styled right and made better. Whether you’re chasing the next storm cycle or ripping corduroy on a bluebird day—pursue your thrill."

Smith developed the first sealed thermal lens and breathable vent foam goggles so he could get a few more powder runs on days when everyone else had to go indoors. Thanks Doc'!
