SkiWelt Issues Update On Developments

No year without improvements. No year without investments. This year, the SkiWelt mountain railway companies are investing over 27 million euros to make the ski area even more modern and sustainable, and to offer new services. The new buildings represent a new dimension of comfort and service in one of the largest and most sustainable ski areas in the world.

Incredibly strong. Incredibly sustainable. The 8-seater Eibergbahn will be the chairlift with the highest capacity and one of the most energy-independent in the world.

The new 8-seater Eibergbahn is being built on the same route and, with a dynamic transport capacity of up to 4570 people per hour, will be the world's most powerful detachable chairlift. It has a maximum travel speed of 5 m/s, is deliberately equipped with seat heating (without a hood for wind reasons, but of course with seat heating). In the interests of energy efficiency and resource conservation, a variable chair insertion from at least 16 chairs will be possible as required. A centerpiece of the new Eibergbahn will be the new 140 kWP PV system on the roof of the Eibergbahn valley station. This will enable around 50% of the annual energy required to be generated in-house. Another major step towards the complete energy efficiency of the SkiWelt mountain railways. Incidentally, the old Eibergbahns are not being retired yet; they have been sold off as a complete unit and are starting their second cable car life after a general overhaul overseas.

SkiWelt Söll

SkiWelt Söll starts the 2024/25 winter season with electricity from its own small hydroelectric power plant

By building the small hydroelectric power plant on the Stampfanger Bach, the Söll cable cars will be able to cover around 25% of the annual energy requirements themselves from December 2024. If we consider the pure summer operation from May to October, both gondola lifts to the Hexenwasser and the Hohe Salve can be operated almost entirely energy self-sufficiently thanks to this self-produced energy.

"Energy self-sufficient operation - With the construction of our small hydroelectric power plant, we have taken a big step in this direction! For this reason, the Söll cable cars have taken the opportunity to invest in a small hydroelectric power plant directly near the valley station," says Mario Gruber, Managing Director of the Söll cable cars.

SkiWelt Westendorf

Incredibly ecological - New Aiblboden reservoir for even more sustainability.

The valley runs and practice areas in the valley in the SkiWelt Westendorf are guaranteed to have snow. The new Aiblboden Lake makes it possible. The new Aiblboden Lake of 90,000 m³ creates a natural snow pond near the middle station of the SkiWelt Westendorf.

"The aim is to be able to cover the valley runs and all areas close to the valley, including the popular ski-in & ski-out practice meadows in the village center, with artificial snow even during short snowmaking windows. Another advantage is that the water is already there in the autumn when needed and is also available much colder, which means that the cable cars can make snow even more resource-efficiently. As part of the construction work, piste adjustments will also be made. The 110 run in the "Ellmerer Schlag" area will be widened and thus become safer," says Stefan Grafl, Managing Director of the Westendorf cable car.

SkiWelt Brixen im Thale

Observation platform giant panorama

A new, giant panorama experience awaits all skiers in the SkiWelt Brixen at the mountain station of the Zinsbergbahn. Easily accessible by elevator or stairs, skiers at the top are treated to a 360° panorama that they have never seen before. Visitors can also use three Viscope binoculars free of charge to explore the mountain peaks. The giant relaxation zone with giant hands and feet invites you to linger. By the way: from next winter, pedestrians will also be able to use the Zinsbergbahn and enjoy the giant panorama at the top. From this winter, the Zinsbergbahn will also be part of the SkiWelt Winter Hiking Pass.

This pass includes 2 different ascents and descents daily (morning + afternoon) on all SkiWelt entry lifts and now also the Zinsberg lift. (Exception: Ki-West) The ticket is only valid for pedestrians without ski equipment.

SkiWelt Söll

Enchanted children's land with mini conveyor belt and a natural ice skating rink on Hochsöll

This year, a brand new enchanted winter wonderland is being created in Hochsöll, freely accessible to all ages. At the middle station below the Hexenwasser gondola station, a natural ice skating rink, a winter playground for romping in the snow, a small fun conveyor belt for the first experiences with skiing and a relaxation area with sun loungers are planned. In the heated gingerbread house right next to the ice skating rink, the little ones can borrow equipment for sliding and playing for free. While stocks last. The new winter adventure trail for pedestrians to the Stöcklalm also starts from here.

All valid ski pass tickets (SkiWelt, SuperSkiCard, SnowCardTirol), the winter hiking maps and a separate mountain and valley ticket from the Söll cable cars are valid (adults: EUR 21.00 & children EUR 10.50).
