Skiing Developing In Bosnia & Herzegovina
The Ski Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina recently organised a seminar for coaches engaged in Cross-Country and Alpine Skiing. With the support of FIS Solidarity and in collaboration with the Faculty of Sport of Sarajevo, the valuable seminar was held from 11th-14th March 2018 in Jahorina, located some 30km from Sarajevo.
32 coaches from Montenegro, Serbia and host nation Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the seminar which was split into theoretical and practical sessions. The extensive theoretical part focused on biomechanics, performance enhancement, the impact of technical knowledge on the success of athletes and injury risk management.
In practical sessions on the snow, the coaches put their knowledge into practice with a focus on technique. The exercises were held at Jahorina Olympic Ski Resort, host of the ladies competition at the 1984 Olympic Winter Games and the biggest ski resort in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
All sessions were enriched by the participation of experienced professors and experts from the field of coaching from Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and the United States, along with former alpine athlete, Enis Becirbegovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Jelena Dojcinovic, Secretary General of the Ski Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina commented: “The seminar was a great opportunity for our coaches to gain new input, especially as it was based on profound research by the experts.
