Ski Solutions Announces Charity Partnership With London - Alps Bike Ride Fundraiser
On 23rd August 2024, four determined members of the Ski Solutions team will embark on a cycling challenge to raise money for their new charity partner, the Snow Sports Foundation. Over the course of the week, this challenge will see the team averaging an impressive 130 km per day and climbing a total of 9,000 m - just above the height of Everest - before reaching one of the top-selling ski resorts, Val d’Isère, on 29th August.
The route leaves London for the ferry at Newhaven, before crossing over to Dieppe, and heading south-east towards the Swiss border. The team will pick up the Route des Grandes Alpes, riding from the Beaufortain range into the Tarentaise valley. On the final day, the team will face the Cormet de Roselend (1,968m), before descending down into Bourg-Saint-Maurice and then climbing up past Tignes Lake to Val d’Isère.
Ski Solutions has recently announced an official charity partnership with the Snow Sports Foundation (SSF), whose mission is to provide life-changing experiences and employability to those with additional needs, mental health challenges, disabilities and financial hardship through inclusive snow sports coaching. SSF raises funds to help students build their confidence through lessons at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead. Funds raised both during the charity cycle and the partnership at large will help SSF to continue to deliver these opportunities and support with ski lessons, instructor qualifications, and support groups.
Ian Mcllrath, Managing Director for Ski Solutions says “We are honoured to be supporting the Snow Sports Foundation’s mission to make skiing accessible to all, and we are ready to tackle this ride. As an avid cyclist, I am looking forward to the challenge of this 965 km charity bike ride and the future of our partnership with SSF. As official partners, I am happy to announce that we will also donate £1 per passenger to SSF for every tailor-made ski holiday booked with us this season”.
Richard Fetherston, Founder of the Snow Sports Foundation, expressed his gratitude, stating, "We are so grateful for the funding we receive as it not only benefits the funded individuals in the development of their own life skills, but also enhances their family, school and social environments”.
