Ski Industry Honors Purgatory Employee At Colorado Ski Country USA Double Diamond Awards

Purgatory Resort congratulates John Feely for receiving the Colorado Ski Country USA’s Food and Beverage Professional of the Year Award. Purgatory’s chef de cuisine, Feely was honored at CSCUSA Double Diamond Awards in Denver this month.

Purgatory joined Colorado ski industry leaders to recognize the outstanding performance of mountain and guest services employees. The annual meeting brings together ski and snow industry professionals, business leaders and community partners, and other stakeholders. The Double Diamond Awards honor those who work tirelessly throughout the winter to make Colorado's signature winter sports and activities enjoyable, safe, and fulfilling for all.

Feely was recognized as Food and Beverage Professional of the Year during a banner 2022-23 ski season for Purgatory. John is a seasoned restaurant industry veteran and brings a fresh culinary perspective to Purgatory. Not only does he introduce new and innovative ways of cooking, but he also fosters a workplace culture that prioritizes the well-being and development of his employees. From foraging mushrooms for seasonal dishes to providing attentive guidance to guests navigating the menu, John goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience.

This month CSCUSA announced 2022-23 Colorado skier visits increased by nearly 8 percent over last year, from 13.8 million to a record 14.8 million in 2023. While Purgatory does not release skier visit data, the resort experienced double-digit growth over last year. This winter Purgatory received more than 31 feet of snow, extending the ski season by three weeks and making May skiing possible for the second time in resort history.
