Ski Cross Is Coming To Schladming
The next sporting highlight in the Schladming -Dachstein region is coming up next weekend: On February 24th and 25th, the international ski cross elite will be guests at the Crosspark Reiteralm. After the training and qualifications, the exciting final races for women and men as part of the FIS Ski Cross World Cup will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The starting field is top-class, with athletes from 13 nations taking part. The Austrian team's hopes rest primarily on Mathias Graf, Adam Kappacher and the Styrian local hero Katrin Ofner. ORF 1 will broadcast the competitions live on February 24th and 25th from 12 p.m.
The course with the challenging starting area, the high and long jumps and the many waves will ensure exciting duels on the track. These facts confirm the Reiteralm's challenging World Cup route: 1200 meter length, two steep curves, three negative curves, one curve with technical jump elements, start section with technical elements and jumps as well as large and small elements with jumps and waves.
Spectators can be there first hand. The extensive preparation work for the top races has been in full swing for days. Intensive effort is also required when building the route and numerous helpers from the USC Crosspark Reiteralm and the Reiteralm Bergbahnen are working to create perfect conditions for the athletes. The conditions are ideal - the basic snow base is very good and the finishing touches are carried out using snow groomers, excavators and also by hand to create the perfect course.
Special public areas with restaurants along the route invite spectators to experience the racing action up close. “Only with the best cooperation with all partners involved will we be able to successfully hold this FIS Ski Cross World Cup racing series on the Reiteralm again. We want to offer the racers perfect racing conditions and spoil the spectators with exciting impressions," promise Daniel Berchthaller, Managing Director of Reiteralm Bergbahnen, and Reinhold Unterkofler, President of the USC Crosspark Reiteralm.
World Cup party in the valley
On Saturday (February 24th) you are invited to the cool World Cup party in the valley. A varied program with an award ceremony, runner presentation, flag march by the children, cool music, a DJ program and much more is on offer. The party takes place from 3 p.m. at the Silver Jet valley station in Gleiming, then continues in Mühlstodl.
