Ski Areas Of New York Expands Lift Maintenance Training Program
Ski Areas of New York is please to announce the 2018 schedule of lift maintenance classes. This will be the seventh consecutive year that they have offered this very successful program. In keeping with their commitment to education and training they again will offer this program at NO cost to members and non-members alike. In fact there is lunch and all training materials included for attendees. A certificate of completion will be awarded to all who complete each course.
The original program was structured for 6 years and ended during the summer of 2017. They have retooled a new group of classes for 2018 and beyond that includes advanced fixed grip and detachable classes as well as condensed basic fixed grip training.
They are extending an invitation to the entire Ski Resort Community to participate. They want all to join us in sharing the knowledge and expertise of our instructors and attendees. They encourage you to bring as many personnel as you like.
As part of the curriculum ropeway events that have occurred throughout the North America in 2018 will be addressed as well as a review of the status of NYS Code Rule 32, ANSI-B77.1, 2011, and ANSI-B77.1, 2017.
They would also like ski areas to bring samples of lift components that failed prematurely or in an unusual way that would be interesting to others. Additionally, they are also curious regarding specialized lift maintenance tools that you purchased or manufactured that made your job as a lift mechanic easier!
