Ski ALPIN CARD Premium Regions Looking Forward To Winter Season With Confidence

The three premium regions, the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun, together form the ALPIN CARD ticket network and offer guests and locals a supra-regional range of alpine and sustainable experiences all year round.

Investments in the areas of quality and sustainability guarantee winter sports enjoyment at the highest level in the SKI ALPIN CARD regions - with their total of 121 cable cars and lifts and up to 408 kilometers of slopes: "All seven mountain railway companies in the ALPIN CARD ticket network have been implementing numerous individual measures for years in the area of sustainability. Topics such as energy efficiency, environmental protection and energy from renewable energy sources are being consistently promoted,” says Thomas Maierhofer, CEO of Gletscherbahnen Kaprun AG.

Kitzsteinhorn plans to start the ski season on October 21st

The first slopes in the Kitzsteinhorn glacier ski area are expected to open on October 21st (depending on snow conditions). Board member Thomas Maierhofer at the start of the season: “As the new board member of Gletscherbahnen Kaprun AG, the upcoming winter is a very special one for me. With the start of the ski season, the newly designed Alpine Center at 2,450 meters opens. The building has always served guests as a central contact point in the ski area. Here the facade and restaurant areas were adapted to the modern Alpine zeitgeist, the main entrance and information service were redesigned and a new Skyline Bar was built.”

Schmittenhöhe: New Sonnkogelbahn takes guests to the mountain paradise

In the Schmittenhöhe ski area, the former 3-seater “Sonnkogelbahn” chairlift was replaced by a combination lift - consisting of an 8-seater gondola (summer operation) and a heated 6-seater chairlift. This combination lift is the first of its kind in Austria. The associated Sonnkogel Restaurant (1,830 m) has more seats and a double-decker sun terrace this season. In addition, the restaurant, which has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel, will be connected underground to the mountain station of the Sonnkogelbahn. The Glockneralm was also completely renovated.

Get a taste of racing in the “Home of Lässig”.

From March 16th to 24th, 2024, the dress rehearsal for the 2025 Alpine Ski World Cup will take place in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn with the AUDI FIS Ski World Cup final. Since all competitions take place on the Zwölferkogel, regular piste operations will not be disrupted - skiers can even follow the racing spectacle from the piste without an additional ticket. With a modern 8-seater chairlift on the Schattberg, which replaces the Limberg 4-seater chairlift after 29 years of operation, a large-scale photovoltaic system and a hydroelectric power plant on the Saalach, the “Home of Lässig” also invested heavily in improving quality and generating renewable energy.

Ski ALPIN CARD: Prices in winter 2023/24

In the pre-season 2023/24 the day ticket price is 65 euros, in the high season it is 72 euros. “Especially due to the increased energy prices, we cannot avoid making price adjustments for the Ski ALPIN CARD tickets. With the increases we are in line with the industry average,” says Erich Egger, CEO of Schmittenhöhebahn AG. “It is of course still very important to us to offer families with children and young people an attractively priced offer,” emphasizes Isabella Dschulnigg-Geissler, Managing Director of Saalbacher Bergbahnen GmbH. Therefore, in the coming winter season, in addition to discounts for school groups, there will again be the Junior XPLORE CARD, with which everyone under 19 years of age can immerse themselves in the winter paradise every Saturday for 15 euros. Families with large children receive a family bonus, if the Ski ALPIN CARDS are purchased together for the two oldest children/young people (born 2005 or younger). There are then free ski passes for all other children/young people (born 2005 or younger) in the family. Small children born in 2018 or younger receive free ski passes when accompanied by an adult.

“Our guests are used to the highest level of comfort, and we want to meet these demands again this winter. The quality of all offers and services is the focus of the three ALPIN CARD Premium regions and will also make it possible to experience the most beautiful facets of winter sports with just one card in the coming winter,” emphasize those responsible for the three mountain railways.
