Silvaplana Rocks The Rail Street Contest Is The Big Highlight Of The Winter Opening
Winter arrived at the right time and transformed Silvaplana into a true winter wonderland for the Silvaplana Winter Opening on November 25th and 26th 2023. The “Silvaplana Rocks The Rail“ premiere on Saturday is the absolute highlight of the weekend. Over 50 snowboarders and freeskiers tackle the rails and obstacles along the Julierpass street in the middle of Silvaplana and delight the audience. The Snow Kids Village with free freestyle lessons for the youngsters and the live concert by Naomi Lareine complement the spectacle and ensure a great atmosphere despite the icy temperatures. A fantastic start to winter!
SILVAPLANA ROCKS THE RAIL – It’s not every day that you see freestylers riding on the streets in the middle of the village unpacking their tricks. The course with a wallride, boxes and various rail features is also a novelty for all participants. A diverse field of riders, among them pro-riders like Nic Huber, Jeremy Denda, Kim Gubser and Nicola Bolinger, mingle with the young talents who want to show off in front of the established riders. The youngest participants are just 9 years old. They all have fun together at the Silvaplana Rocks The Rail.
In the end, the professionals ended up on top of the podium. In the skiing comp, 2021 world champion Anastasia Tatalina (RUS) and local hero Nicolas Bolinger take the win. Gabriel Almqvist (SWE) claims first place in the snowboard category.
