SIA Round Up - April 22 Edition
Spring is here. Hopefully you’re enjoying the warmer temps and not hanging up those skis just yet!
Welcome to the fifth edition of our monthly Media Dispatch from SIA (Snowsports Industries America)! This month is ClimateUnited Month, which highlights the organization’s commitment to facilitating industry-wide innovation to ensure the winter outdoors thrives for future generations. Climate is the apex issue facing the industry we all so deeply care about, and it’s heartening to see the steps that SIA is implementing to help fight this fight.
To that end, you’ll find details on this month’s happenings below and please let us know if you have any questions or wish to gain more insight into the highlighted topics. Looking ahead to next month, stay tuned for the end-of-season NPD and Impacts of COVID on Participation reports, which will look a little closer at how the pandemic has impacted the industry.
ClimateUnited Month - April 7-28, 2022 - Weekly Webinars
SIA will focus on educating its members on bold climate solutions all month. Previously a single week in April, SIA’s ClimateUnited Month will focus more heavily on highlighting the organization’s commitment to facilitating industry-wide innovation to ensure the winter outdoor industry thrives for future generations. During ClimateUnited Month, SIA provides ready-to-implement tools and techniques for member companies to gain immediate business value through reducing climate impact and sharing that commitment with staff and customers, and that goes beyond the ClimateUnited Lab.
The first educational session is titled Building a Circular Strategy to Reduce Your Emissions, and will explore moving away from a linear lifecycle to a more circular model - re-thinking the way that our gear is designed, bought, and sold. This webinar, as well as the second session on April 14th, will be open to both SIA members and non-members.
Join Nicole Bassett of The Renewal Workshop and Derek Sabori of The Underswell to explore some of the most innovative approaches to a circular model that can be implemented by any business of any size.
Free registration for all HERE.
The second session is titled Solving The Sustainable Packaging Dilemma, and will focus on why responsible packaging should be an industry standard. Listen to Aaron Keller from Capsule and SIA member brands Krimson Klover, DPS Skis and mountainFLOW eco-wax to learn how to move this forward by discussing the challenges, best practices and opportunities that re-thinking our packaging presents.
Free registration for all HERE.
SIA members are invited to join additional webinars on April 19 (Measuring Your Products Impacts and Telling Authentic Sustainability Stories) and April 28 (Insuring the Planet: A Giant Opportunity for Activism in the Most Unlikely of Places),
