Schneeberger Announces Retirement
Schneeberger announces retirement. After more than a decade in alpine ski racing, Rosina Schneeberger has decided to end her active career today.
In March 2013, the Tyrolean made her World Cup debut and subsequently competed in a total of 49 World Cup and 133 European Cup races.
Her best World Cup result is ninth place in the Alpine Combined; in the European Cup, the 30-year-old achieved eleven podium places, including two victories. At the Junior World Championships, three bronze medals are among her most impressive successes.
During her career, the Zillertal native had to contend with many setbacks due to injuries (most recently a broken tibia and fibula), which repeatedly set her back. Despite these challenges, Schneeberger always worked her way back onto the slopes, but now the time has come to try new things.
"After careful consideration, I have decided to turn my back on ski racing. Even though it was not an easy decision, it is time to start a new chapter in which my health comes first. After my last operation in May, my health is really good again. I am finally pain-free again and I want to keep it that way. The time in the ski circus was very nice and I gained valuable experience that I want to take with me into the new phase of my life. Next winter, I would like to run a food truck with my sister in the Mayrhofen ski area. The final examination to become a state ski instructor is still planned and all doors are still open to me at the BMF (customs sport)," says Rosina Schneeberger about her future plans.
