Schmittenhohe's New Sonnkogel 'Chondola' To Open For Winter 23-24

The Schmittenhöhebahn AG operates a total of 28 lifts. In order to ensure the legal requirements on the one hand, but also to meet our ideas of improving comfort and increasing safety, the "Sonnkogelbahn" (3-seater chairlift), which has existed since 1984, has been replaced by a combination lift (6-seater chairs or 8-seater gondolas ) replaced with the latest technology.

The type of use of the combined cable car changes seasonally - this is how the cabins ensure comfort for hikers and families in summer. In winter, thanks to the 6-seater armchair with heated seats, weather protection hood and automatically locking restraining bars, you can quickly go back upstairs without the hassle of unbuckling your skis.

The new Sonnkogelbahn will open in winter 2023/24.

The existing valley station building will be replaced by a new station.

For reasons of space, the mountain station can no longer be integrated into the building and is therefore being relocated. The existing station building is to be used to adapt the existing restaurant. The Sonnkogel Restaurant is connected underground to the mountain station of the Sonnkogelbahn; you can reach the service restaurant directly from the platform at ground level.
