Schladming/Planai: 10 Seater Gondolas “Rohrmoos I” & “Wintersportzentrum WEST” Are Ready To Go

After eight months of construction, the time has come: On Tuesday, November 26, the operating permits for the new 10-seater cable car "Rohrmoos I" and for the "Winter Sports Center WEST" were issued. With these groundbreaking projects, another high-quality center for access to the Planai and Hochwurzen ski mountains has been created in Schladming. Even before the new cable car officially begins operations, interested parties can take their first test rides at the open day on December 5.

The new 10-person cable car "Rohrmoos I" with its 30 panoramic gondolas offers a transport capacity of 2,400 people per hour. With a total investment of 13.5 million euros, a modern cable car was created that makes access to the Rohrmoos plateau much more comfortable and faster. The new WEST winter sports center impresses with its location within walking distance of Schladming train station, modern ski depots, a sports shop and the "WESTend" lounge.

"With the granting of the two operating permits for the 'Rohrmoos I' cable car and the 'Winter Sports Center WEST', we are opening a new chapter for our ski area," says
Planai Managing Director Dir. Georg Bliem. "My special thanks go to all those responsible, the companies commissioned, the town of Schladming with Mayor Hermann Trinker, the authorities and our entire team. Thanks to their great commitment, all work was completed on time and successfully."

The representatives of the authorities, led by Nina Piber, highlighted the particularly successful overall appearance of the two projects, which set new standards in design and functionality.

Skiers can get their first impression of the new "Winter Sports Center WEST", as the ascent to the Planai will then be made comfortably with the "Planai West" cable car. On Thursday, December 5th, interested parties will have had the opportunity to test drive the new 10-seater "Rohrmoos I" cable car before the official start of operations at an open day (from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.).
