Schladming-Dachstein Opens Friday

The Austrian holiday region Schladming-Dachstein starts the winter season tomorrow, Friday (November 22).

- On the Planai and the Reiteralm, tracks can already be made in the snow
- More mountain railways will go into operation in the next few weeks
- Cross-country ski trails in Ramsau are already available

On the Planai and Reiteralm, winter temperatures, efficient snowmaking systems and the work of the dedicated piste team allow the ski area to remain open throughout. The Märchenwiesebahn cable car opens on the Schladming Planai, and other facilities will follow depending on the snow conditions. On the Reiteralm, a gondola lift for ascent and descent will also be in operation from Friday, as will the Schoberbahn chairlift on the mountain. Cross-country skiers can also strap on their skis; three kilometers of trails have already been groomed in Ramsau am Dachstein.

All information is available online at www.schladming-dachstein.at/pistenoeffnungszeiten .

On the opening weekend (Friday to Sunday) there will be a shuttle bus available on the Planai, which runs regularly between the Planai valley station and the Planai. Alternatively, you can always travel by car toll-free via the Planai road, where there are plenty of parking spaces on the mountain. The Planaihof is available for a stop-off.

The Schladminger Reiteralm is also about to start the winter season. From Friday, the Preunegg Jet will be an 8-seater gondola for a comfortable ride up and down the mountain, and the Schoberbahn chairlift will then be open at the top.

At the start of the season, reduced ticket prices apply on the Planai and Reiteralm. The Ski amadé ALL-IN Card White, the Super Ski Card and the Steiermark Joker are already valid. Winter frequent traveler tickets are still available at the pre-sale price until December 5th.

What’s new in the 2024/25 winter season:

In December, a new gondola connection from Schladming to Rohrmoos will go into operation instead of the 2-seater chairlift. The ultra-modern 10-seater gondola lift is designed to transport 2,400 people per hour.

A new 8-seater chairlift will be available from this year on Hauser Kaibling, the highest mountain in the 4-mountain ski area of Schladming. With a capacity of 3,600 people per hour, it will take guests to the transmitter plateau at 1,870 meters above sea level at a speed of six meters per second.

The Riesneralm has invested in the expansion of the children's ski area. With the new "KISI-DONNER", a 168 m long conveyor belt, and the new ski school center in the middle of the children's ski area, young and old ski enthusiasts can enjoy the highest level of comfort and professional supervision.

Ski opening with Bryan Adams, Sting and Simply Red

From December 6th to 8th, Schladming-Dachstein, together with the 4-mountain ski area Schladming (Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen & Reiteralm) and the Leutgeb Entertainment Group, will be setting new standards with the ski opening “The Grand Festival 2024”. The Styrian tourist region will then officially start this year's winter season with three top international acts. Bryan Adams, Sting and Simply Red are the world stars who, after Robbie Williams last year, will create a great atmosphere in the finish stadium of the Schladming Planai.
