Schladming-Dachstein Hosts New Original Culinary Event: “One Evening, 5 Chefs”
The Styrian tourism region Schladming-Dachstein invited people to a new, enjoyable event yesterday (March 26) as part of their Alpine culinary project with top chef Richard Rauch. The Waldhäuslalm in Rohrmoos-Untertal was the setting for a special culinary experience: under the motto “One evening, 5 chefs – the diversity of the region on a plate” - an excellent tasting menu was presented, created by five renowned chefs.
With top chefs Stefan Ell-Mayer from the Wirtshaus and Dorfhotel Mayer, Franz Danklmaier from the Grafenwirt, Thomas Spielbichler from the E42 Mountainsteil and Andreas Zechmann from the Waldhäuslalm, the evening guaranteed a culinary journey through the special features of the regional cuisine. Another highlight of the evening was the participation of four-award-winning chef Richard Rauch, who also presented a Schladming-Dachstein alpine cuisine dish. Around 90 guests enjoyed a top-class five-course tasting menu with Styrian wines from the STK Weingut Wohlmuth. The event was also accompanied by culinary delights from the Schladming-Dachstein Gourmet Partners with products from the region. The “Tausing Duo” from Wörschach provided the right musical entertainment.
Bring local chefs to the fore as part of Alpine cuisine
"The topics of cuisine and regionality are important cornerstones for us as a Styrian tourism destination," emphasizes Mathias Schattleitner, managing director of the Schladming-Dachstein tourism region. "One goal of the Almkulinarik initiative is to put regional cuisine and diversity in the spotlight in combination with an external top chef to move. With the new format 'One evening, five chefs' we want to bring both worlds - the involvement of local chefs as well as Alpine cuisine with four-toque television chef Richard Rauch - even more closely together and bring them to the fore."
The event was sold out after just a few days after it went on sale. Due to the great interest, a second edition is already planned for this event format, which will take place on September 17th in the Wirtshaus & Dorfhotel Mayer.
