Schilthornbahn20XX: Another Big Step Takes Place
The cabins of the first Schilthornbahn20XX section are hanging on the rope – a real reason to celebrate!
This cable car between Stechelberg and Mürren will be the world's steepest aerial tramway ever put into operation, with a breathtaking gradient of 159.4%.
The first section is scheduled to be officially opened on December 14, 2024.
Tinsmith art on the Schilthorn
Durable, easy to work with, soft and supple - if that isn't a declaration of love for the uniquely beautiful and masterly metalwork on the building shells in Stechelberg and Birg!
A total of 85 tons of copper sheet are processed to size in the two stations and pulled over the surface like a second skin.
In order to make the plumbing work even more efficient and, above all, more sustainable, a plumbing workshop was set up at the Stechelberg valley station. Adjustments and adjustments are made directly on site, which reduces the extra work and additional trips.
For many of those involved, work on this scale and at this height, against such a mountain backdrop, is truly a once in a lifetime experience!
