Salzburg Cable Car Conference: Looking Forward To The 2024/2025 Winter Season!
There was great anticipation for the coming winter season and a great atmosphere at the conference of the Salzburg cable car industry in St. Johann im Pongau.
According to the potential study by the Austrian Tourist Board, a total of 17 million people - more than ever before - are planning a winter or ski holiday in Austria. "The economic situation of our guests has improved again. The propensity to save is declining," says State Secretary for Tourism Susanne Kraus-Winkler. A special highlight promises to be the Ski World Championships in Saalbach in February 2025.
The local cable car industry has been very sustainable in all its initiatives for years. Over the past ten years, 20% of energy consumption has been saved. Snowmaking and grooming all slopes only require 0.33% of total energy consumption in Austria.
The share of renewable energy is already 90%. 80% of the slopes in Austria can be artificially snowed. The Austrian cable car industry generated sales of €12.6 billion in the 2022/2023 season, resulting in €1.9 billion in sales tax. In total, almost 130,000 jobs depend on the domestic cable car industry.
