Outdoor Retailer, the premier U.S. gathering and business event for the $862 billion outdoor industry, is preparing to welcome back international and United States retailers to Salt Lake City for Outdoor Retailer Snow Show from January 10-12, 2023, at the Salt Palace Convention Center. More than 2,600 retail buyers, representing over 1,250 independent specialty retail shops, regional stores, national chains, resorts, and more from across the U.S., as well as buyers from Canada, Australia, and the UAE, are attending Snow Show in January, the first industry gathering of 2023.

“I’ve been attending Outdoor Retailer since 2009,” said Megan Kellin, owner of Lake and Company, Grand Rapids, MN. “If I think about it, it’s wild how Outdoor Retailer has shaped my overall business trajectory. Over the years I’ve started and sold businesses in different realms and states, but always within the outdoor industry. OR is more than a marketplace, it’s where our outdoor culture comes together and creates. I always strive to bring my teams here as well – our team is made up of well-traveled risk-takers, adventure seekers, and out-of-the-box thinkers. Together, as a team, we strive to make waves in the region by becoming early adopters of unique products and brands that enhance and celebrate the outdoor lifestyle, a lot of which we find at Outdoor Retailer.”
“The reason for attending now is as the best means of onboarding a new hire and also being able to take the pulse of the industry as a whole,” said Mark Boles, founder/CEO, Intrinsic Provisions, located in Hingham, Mass.
“The main reason for my attending is seeing the new vendors,” said Ron Flint, owner, Nugget Alaskan Outfitters, Juneau, Alaska. “And, and of course connecting with a few of the old dogs like myself that are still around.”
Beyond the booths, Snow Show features the industry’s top educators and innovators who will provide unique insights for best business practices through educational opportunities at The Camp, Trend + Design Center, and The Ranger Station, along with sessions from Snowsports Industries America (SIA) and Outdoor Industry Association (OIA). This year, key panel discussion and conversation topics cover supply chain, retail sales trends, digital marketing, sustainable design and packaging, new gear reviews, and more. The Outdoor Retailer Attendee Relations team will also be leading daily meetups to aid in product discovery and an efficient experience.
Outdoor Retailer Match is also available to support retailer and exhibitor connections at Snow Show. This free matchmaking program, supported by a concierge service, helps retail buyers, importer/distributors, and media find exhibitors, make appointments, and send messages prior to arriving in Salt Lake, creating a more efficient on-site experience.
The day prior to Snow Show, Monday, January 9, retail buyers and media can enjoy a day on the snow at The Summit by Outdoor Retailer with professionally curated winter sports activities and guided classes. Additionally, all registered Outdoor Retailer attendees have access to lift ticket discounts for full mountain access, and an evening Media Preview event gives journalists early access to the latest trends.
The full Snow Show education and events schedules are available online and are filled with ideas, inspiration, and networking opportunities to support business and the industry. Attendees can register to attend and access lodging options at outdoorretailer.com.
Brands interested in connecting with the industry at Outdoor Retailer through exhibiting, experiences, advocacy programs, sponsorships, speaking, and more at any future event can contact an Outdoor Retailer account executive. The exhibitor list, floor plan are live for Snow Show, and sales are underway for The Summit by Outdoor Retailer and next summer’s Outdoor Adventure X consumer festival.
